I say that but end up filling them up with some thing or another! They are good for 'kitting' your equipment based on trade or specialty. I have different bags or totes for electrical tools, plumbing tools, painting and drywall tools, sometimes general power tools, batteries and charger and a random set of fasteners or bits and blades. I have a bag specific to my work vehicle (with low voltage tools), and then also one specific for my personal vehicle with enough common tools to fix house stuff or swap a battery.

Ideally I would like to have zero tools and be rich enough to make a phone call and never fix anything but that hasn't happened yet. I'm holding out for the big prize...playing the long game here.

The more $$ you have, the more elaborate ($$) your tools are..!
