I'm not a regular Staples shopper except sometimes for their fee-free gift cards. I do have 10 or more cartridges I could recycle though. What would the 5000 points be worth? Is there a cash equivalent in the store?

Thanks, I went ahead and Activated the offer in my new rewards account. Meanwhile I noticed that it looks like I could recycle CD's there? I would love a place to recycle old CD's is that really a thing?

5000 points = $25. There's really no cash equivalents, unfortunately. Thankfully, the points don't expire, so you can accumulate the points to get something you really want (unless you don't have a lot of cartridges).

Well $25 worth of Staples credit just for recycling some cartridges that I was happy to find a home for anyway makes me happy. Plus when I got home I have an email that says I have 6000 points. Not sure where the other 1000 came from.
I saw something in the ad that made me think that they recycled CD's as well. Is that the case? It's not easy to find a place to recycle cds.

Yes, they still do. Every month you recycle a CD, they give you 500 points ($2.50). Just keep doing that every month, and the points add up.

So the only way to really confirm will be to recycle ONE Cartridge 12/29, and see if it credits, and if it does, then do 9 more.

It's the likely SAME promo. Where the OPs info is "wrong" is that the promo doesn't START 12/29, it just CONTINUES 12/29.

Does this work for any cds or just music cds? If I haven't thrown them away already I have a ton of useless CD's.
And yes, recycling an individual battery (e.g., Alkaline) also qualifies for the 500 points, plus gets you a $10 off $30 coupon.
thanks
