Yes, a buddy of mine has this and although it's not the sexiest thing in the world, it is amazing when turned on and you can have 5-6 ppl standing around it staying warm. Oh and you won't smell like a campfire. In for one!

It looks like it doesn't have a built in igniter so you have to use a lighter. For me that's a dealbreaker I enjoy built in igniters I've seen some people get a ball of fire in their face

I bought this fire pit to use camping with the family earlier this year when we couldn't have regular open pit fires in Oregon. It does put out good heat for how small it is. One possible concern some people might have is that at full power it's a little loud, like a big blowtorch. Wasn't a big issue for us considering the alternative of not having a campfire while camping. And yes it's a manual ignite so you need a separate device for that. But in my experience, you're no more likely to get a ball of fire in the face with this than with a built in igniter.

Can this be hooked to a Natural Gas connection? Would you recommend that? Assuming I would need a kit, do you have a recommendation? Does anybody know?

Although this is pretty inexpensive I would look at build quality. Those legs don't look very stable. It is inevitable that when you get people around this the hose that connects to it will always be tripped over. It doesn't matter which one you buy. Get one that's 18-22 inches with a better build and a stronger base. IMHO

If you connect this to one of those propane tanks you get from a gas station or supermarket, how long can you keep a fire going?

I don't have this specific product, but I have a very similar one branded Camp Chef. We keep this in our travel trailer, and it is really great to have IMO. It's not the same as a wood fire, so the ambiance is different, but I VERY much prefer not to smell like smoke after cooking things on stick and sitting around the fire. Especially if I may not have the ability to shower before going to bed. The fold-able legs and bag (for the Cam Chef one anyway) make it very convenient to pack away. Plus, you can generally use these when there are fire bans.

I have this and like it. Compact and gets the job done. For camping it's great. Especially with limited storage. If you've got a giant 5th wheel and call that "camping" this won't be your jam.

Great catch. We have one with an ignitor and not sure why they wouldn't include one. Makes it so you don't have to track down a lighter and burn off your eyebrows.

I have friends that have one like this. Yes, if you set it too high while you light it, you can get a big ball of fire. A bit startling, but easy to avoid.

BUT: if you're pushing an ignite button on the unit, instead of lighting with a lighter, how is there a decreased risk of a ball of fire? Seems the risk is the same - you're still the same distance from it, trying to ignite an unknown amount of propane has been released.

Not sure about this one specifically, but these things are really nice. Tons of heat, super convenient. No mess to clean up once you're done, no ashes, burning charcoal, etc to deal with. Not sure what the build quality of this unit is, but it looks like it might be sturdy enough (though I'd love to see how the legs are mounted to the base). For $55, I'm tempted.

5 hours sounds reasonable, but it's going to vary widely depending on how high you set the propane. These things put off a ton of heat, and the lava rocks hold onto a lot of it. Pretty efficient design. Not sure about this model, but I got ~15 hours out of one pre-filled tank (blue rhino, or one like it) on a series of cold nights using our friends'.

Can always add one. They're about $5. $10 for a battery one which adds an element of failure.
