as a ref, I bought a similar spec ace mini pc in April 2024 for $279 - just the CPU is different - Intel i5-12450H. The physical is exactly the same.

8 month later, price down $20 - which means mini-pc prices are quite stable in the period.

The mini-pc is my daily driver - use it every day. All good except for some noise coming out of the 3.5mm audio-out when using a earbud.

Wondered the same, but how many AOCs can there be? The case for sure doesn't look anything like Acemagic's.

A year ago, this was the going price on R7 57U boxes with only 16 GB RAM, and from Amazon.

Would be good to know about build quality on this particular model,

It does say it's a colab between AOC and Acemagic, but I wonder how "much" and who did what. maybe someone will chime in with some known info.

Do you conspiracy theorists think there's a physical backdoor chip in this thing or do you not understand how to wipe a drive?

I would say that the average person doesn't know how to wipe a hard drive beyond deleting what's shown in the GUI so having a virus in the recovery partition is pretty much a backdoor for those involved.

Wiping a drive does absolutely nothing if various device firmwares have been modified.
