Random, non important, transient uses. I like having them for storage expansion on a device like a TV or travel media player device (i use with a portable projector, on my bravia tv and an offline android player box). They're good for passing around - I'm a software architect, and sometimes passing 3gb of assets we've generated in a 4hr working session is easier on one of these vs syncing to cloud shared storage. These are good for imaging an OS for installation to a device. Makes for a good transport between phone and pc for editing and sharing pictures and videos. Sure, an external hard drive can do these, but is comparatively overkill in terms of physical size and cost for these short lived purposes.
I'm not a member of Costco are you saying I can still get the deal online and have it sent to me? Won't I need a membership number when checking out?
Thanks for the help

Serious question: why do people still get flash drives with small portable external hard drives available? I learned my lesson in college not to trust them
From my experience, portable HDDs die out faster due to the moving mechanism compared to flash drives, which is why I personally prefer them when possible.

Every microcenter flash drive I've ever purchased has broken over time. If you care about what's on your drives don't ever use them, they are the cheapest hardware available

No worries. I did post it on the other deal about the SanDisk 64GB one. But this for me ain't a slickdeal (ie why I didn't make a deal post for it). I made the post on the other thread so that others could use it as part of their decision to buy or not.
This has been $19.99 at Costco for a long time now and I arguably don't find it to be a slickdeal. Mostly because now a days you can find 128GB drives around this price range very often. The only real appeal of this one is that is sold by Costco and they provide an awesome return policy. Also the usb Gen 3.2 support and speeds ain't bad. Lexar at least for me has been an OK brand, even if it got sold to a foreign company. It is still backed up by Costco's policy so some might prefer to buy them instead of buying a 64GB SanDisk from Amazon which right now has the same trust on it not being a fake product as Aliexpress or Temu.
