Edit, didn't realize OP already factored in 2 months of service.

$60 x2
$30 x4

Add $240 min. 6mos of services to get it unlock

The device has an active phone number to unlock, you may need the 7th month, there is another extra $30

Bad deal for most unless you really need an iphone and can port to it.

Terrible price. Why would you post this when it was literally $29.99 for the iPhone 12 and $99.99 for the iPhone 13 just a few days ago? Both requires port in and 2 months of the $60 service. Why didn't you post the previous deal back then? This is a horrible price.
This is the same price. The OP simply includes the first two months of service as the total -- For example, iphone 13 $100 + $120 2 month of service = $220.

So let's say I do 7 months of Cricket with the above math for $270 total for the service, and $100 for iphone 13, then I subtract $105 for 7 months of the $15 monthly service I have now. The net price for the phone is $265.

Do you think iphone 13 for $265 is good price? If so, I may jump on this.

At 265, it is acceptable unless there aren't any good deal. The way i look at it is, after an year how much i can trade it for with Apple as baseline. If its 250 today then next year it would be around 200 and with that in mind, my cost would be under $100 for using the phone for an year

Another factor to consider is that in 7 months, would you be able to switch to another $15/month service? Or might you be more likely to only be able to get plans (that meet your data use needs) that are in the $25/month price range?

The $265 price, at this time, is not terrible. It depends on whether you need/want the iPhone 13. There was a thread about an iPhone 13 with StraightTalk for $245 about a month ago, which was the cost of the phone with one month of service, 60 days to unlock. Plus, some people were stacking cash back deals (perhaps with their credit card companies) with the phone so their total cost was closer to $200. This was for a phone with one month of service, and the second month while the phone was still locked, the phone was possibly useless, unless you wanted to spend more and buy another month of service, which would then get the cost even closer to this deal's effective cost (to you) of $265. But in your case it's an additional $265 spent (not all of which is up front) for an iPhone 13 that includes 7 months of service. If AT&T coverage is good in your area, maybe this would be a good deal.

ETA: I noticed the $30 plan has 5GB of data, with what looks like a throttle to 128 kbps speeds after the 5GB limit is reached. Which is fine for some. Just mentioning this as some people may find this a dealbreaker.

The iPhone 12 $29.99 price requires 2 months of $60/month service to be paid for up front and port in of a number. In the past its been possible to downgrade the $60/month plan after 30 days and get 2 months of their $30/month plan with the $60 that has been prepaid for 2nd month.
the other option is $99.99 for the phone with only 1 month of $30/month service paid upfront and no port in required.
Existing customers with port in only require 1 month of $60/month service with $29.99 price.
.
Cricket locked iPhone 12 can be traded in to apple store for $180 off any purchase or $155 apple gift card.
.
Keep in mind for cricket to unlock a phone it needs 180 days of continuous uninterrupted service. if you remove the sim card from the phone and pop it into another phone for whatever reason, say you wanted to test a if another phone was unlocked. that will restart your 180 day unlock timer all over again with no exceptions.

For the iPhone 13, If buying it as an existing customer and porting in a number it is also the $99.99 price but only requires a single month of $60/month service be paid for upfront. So if looking to buy more than one the possibly cheaper route is to activate a line on an existing phone with their lowest plan to become a customer then go for the existing customer offer.

I have multiple lines on Cricket for years and plan to stay on Cricket

I could use an upgraded iPhone for one family member

Can I add a new line to buy the iPhone 13 but never activate it? Will the $60 credit transfer back to the account or will it just be wasted in the initial purchase? Also I guess I would need to buy a "phone number to transfer" from ebay or something?

  1. Not sure if the $60 credit can be repurposed. Would suggest going through a few of the more recent cricket samsung deals to see if theres any mention.
  2. Cheapest and quickest way to get a port in number is to sign up for visible $25/month service using a $20 off first month referral code that can be found with a simple google search on websites like reddit making it cost only $5. If you have an eSim capable device then the entire activation and port out pin request can be done within about 20-30 minutes. Otherwise it takes a few days for them to deliver a physical sim but same process soon as it arrives. activate yourself in the visible app. Login to your visible account. request port out pin and text/email with all the info you need arrives shortly after.

okay interesting

So on my eSimmable S22+, you're saying I could just open new Visible service in one of the spare eSim slots but that doesn't affect my current Cricket service on that phone. Then I log into the Visible account and request port out PIN immediately. I guess the days of going on eBay and buying some "number for porting" for like 2 or 3 bucks, simple and easy, is no longer? It's been awhile since I did any port-in deals

I would want to make sure that whatever I did, didn't disturb my current phone number or service on my phone.

Here's a good explanation of the eSim capability and how switching works on the S22. It will not overwrite your existing eSim but instead install a seperate one that you can switch between in your settings.

Okay thanks. I still have a physical SIM so should have no worries either. Thanks

Do you know if Cricket allows early unlocking for foreign travel? Meaning if I gave this new phone to family member intending to keep it on Cricket service anyway for next year, but we travel to foreign country 3 months from now and want to use a travel eSIM for a week, are we screwed because phone is locked for 6 mos?
