While I've not been hands on with a Bravia 7, the 9 is the best Sony LED TV since the Z9D. Sony does a much better job with color accuracy and its dimming algorithm than any other manufacturer, but even with their algorithmic magic (see the 900 series vs. Samsung's of the same era with more zones but worse picture quality), zone count does matter. The 9 is packing 4x more zones than the 7 and will give you much better perceived contrast and less haloing and bloom.
You can see that in RTING's side by sides of the 9 and 7 (https://www.rtings.com/tv/tools/c...3321/53322). Check out the blooming pics. The 9 keeps the area near the word "subtitles" pretty clean, while the 7 has an obviously over-bright square over the word that destroys shadow detail in the test scene. That's obviously a torture test and may get washed out if you're viewing entirely in daytime. Whether the 7 will work well for you is going to depend on use case, but the 9 is going to be a much, much better TV in a dim or mixed viewing environment. The 95L is still on offer and probably best choice for critical / true dark room viewing.

They have 30 days return, it's from an authorized dealer, and unless something has changed, it should include sales tax. If so, this is fantastic deal for an amazing TV. However, I do wonder how much better the 9 is vs 7 to justify at least $1000 more. I have the x95K 85" and like I said in other comments, it's drool worthy, even over both OLED TVs in my house
Paid $3000 (including tax and shipping) for the 75" B9 during BF… Should have waited but Beautiful tv love it.
Bought mine from Value Electronics (they are also on Greentoe), TV shipped straight from Sony. If hadn't already bought would email Value Electronics and ask to match price if buy straight from them, since some dealers on Greentoe I don't trust like BuyDig.
I picked up a Sony 85" X91J (https://www.sony.com/electronics/...ifications) through Greentoe in spring 2022 for like $1800 and the whole process was flawless. Greentoe acts as the middleman to an authorized retailer to sell you the product, so your actual product receipt is not through Greentoe, but the retailer. I live in the Chicago area and it turns out I bought the TV from some local/non-chain electronics store in Tennessee somewhere. Was delivered on box truck, not UPS or FedEx.
I have a feeling this TV will be like the X900F
It was a solid model at the time with above average specifications, Therefore, expensive when first introduced, it remained in production for 2 years.
After production ended the price became reasonable: 75" $1500/ 85" $2,500

So long as you don't see them side by side, you should be fine with either one. Those are both good TVs.
After looking at Bravia 7 at a Bestbuy and reading reviews, I was leaning more towards that but one time I went to another bestbuy just to see if Bravia 9 was any better when comparing side by side with Bravia 7, and for my eyes Bravia 9 is way better with blacks and blooming effect. So I landed up buying that.

Got the 85" Bravia 9. Absolutely love it. Sony's processing is unmatched really. The software and remote are well done as well.
I wish it handled reflections better for dark scenes in a brightly sunlit room, but my understanding is it actually performs well above average for modern TVs.
Would the Bravia 9 be better or wait for the Sony BRAVIA XR A95L to go on sale??
I had the same question 6 months ago and landed on the B9. It depends on whether your room can go completely dark and you don't mind a smaller size, if yes than maybe the a95l is better (if you don't mind the risk of burn in and the fact it's a 2 year old model). But I landed on the B9 because my room can't get completely dark, didn't want to worry about burn in, and wanted 85" or larger. I've got no regrets.

Thank you! Size isn't really a factor, I'm staying the same at 65 in with what I currently have, the tv would be mounted on a wall about like 8 feet away from a sliding glass door that would be facing the side of the tv, we have curtains but if open we'd have a decent amount of daytime light coming in, I'm just not sure which of the two tv's is a better choice since I really like them both 😊

If you're watching a lot of daytime tv you have both the lighting and the possible burn in from news & sports banners to consider. Both factors are better handled by a mini-led tv.
The A95L is also on sale at Greentoe.

*Returns are handled by the retailer but Greentoe assists the return authorization.
