I bought three 2-packs a while back to stock up, didn't think to share it on here. The 2-packs are cheaper per filter than the 4-packs and the 6-pack costs even more per filter than the 4-pack, that's crazy!

I suggested faucet-mounted water filters to Project Farm on YouTube a while back and he acknowledged it but I haven't seen any testing videos for it.

PUR has been around for years with various slight changes like adding minerals for taste but considered the leader in filters. I've seen no actual tests, but the boxes claim they filter out a bunch of metals, microbes and chemicals, so I figure it's better than nothing.

FWIW, when I was shopping for a filter, I decided on these based on the reviews I read at the time, but it's been a couple years. It was the best combination of price, ease, and effectiveness for my purposes.

And thanks, OP. Got a couple two-packs.

I've been on a research binge on water pitchers: basically Clearly Filtered >> ZeroWater > Pur Plus/Brita Elite. For mainstream usage, probably ZeroWater is best but do realize that their filters don't last as long. Also, might want to take multivitamins/mineral drops since the higher end options like CF and ZW take out essential minerals.

PS: If you're truly concerned about water quality (check your local area water report in lieu of expensive water testing), pretty much reverse osmosis systems are the way to go. A bit more involved but the payoff is worth it. I'd recommend iSpring (American-owned though parts are made in China, superior customer service) in this case. Waterdrop (China-owned and obviously made from China) also comes up but their quality control is a bit iffy after some tests showed cancer-causing chemicals in their filter.

Great post. I'd recommend taking a look at the Microline TFC-435. It's a great product, and it's made in the US.

Be careful about buying them on ebay. I tried that as I got tired of them going up in price every year, so I looked at Ebay and saw they were half the price as the ones I buy at the store. I purchased 6 of the PUR water filters from ebay, from a seller with over 10,000 reputation and 99.9% feedback, thinking that was safe. When I installed one of the filters on my faucet, I noticed the flow of water came out much faster than the PUR filters I was buying at Walmart. I thought maybe it was just one bad filter, so I took it out and opened another one. Same thing, the flow of water was faster, which made me start thinking these were counterfeit. I then took a saw and cut open the filter and it was completely different than an actual real PUR filter. What gets me, is the packaging looks EXACTLY the same, no difference from a counterfeit and a real one on the box. Also, the filters look real on the outside, except when you cut one open.

So I ended up getting a refund from the seller, had to get Ebay involved. I then thought it might just be him, so I foolishly ordered more filters from a different seller, again with great reputation. Wanna guess what happened? Those filters were fake as well and again, they looked on the outside, exactly like the real deal. If you read Amazon reviews, you'll also find even some sellers on Amazon have been selling counterfeits. This is why you only buy them from a reputable store or from PUR themselves. In this case, I checked out the seller and they are an authorized PUR dealer, so I just bought 2 packs on this Amazon deal. I won't ever trust Ebay again for filters, as just too many people selling Chinese counterfeits and our city water is bad, they have failed a couple of State water tests over the years, so we only drink filtered water.

I would advise against buying off eBay or a knock-off brand. While it might seem cheaper if it only lasts 1/2-1/3 as long it's not.

Those are almost definitely knockoffs. But even with amazon now, you don't know where they sourced these or co-mingled inventory. Hopefully authentic and not from a knockoff factory where they just shoveled toxic sand into them.

I have yet to get knock off versions on Ebay..in fact every order came packed in original box, filters sealed in the usual gold foil and all have worked perfectly.. I only buy from Ebay sellers with 100% feedback like mine
