You won't notice a difference. Just get the aluminum. Save the money. You know what? nobody else will care or notice you're not wearing the stainless steel as well.

I have always had stainless steel versions, 2, 4, and now the 7. Thinking about getting a new one. Anyone go from stainless steel to aluminum? How do/did you like it?

Couldn't care less what others think. Back when I got the series 2, there was a noticeable difference. I like the weight, and the look better on stainless in the past. Also, the screen is more scratch resistant as I have hit the face countless times and thankfully no scratches or cracks.

I guess I need to try the aluminum one on sometime again as it has been years since I have held one.

I have aluminum cases all along since series 1. Last one was a series 6 and still look like new.

Similarly… the aluminum doesn't give the same personal satisfaction. I returned mine. Spend the money for the stainless and move on.

I scratched the face on my aluminum series 9 a few days after I got it. I regretted not getting the steel version with the sapphire.

Another difference is that the aluminum watches have Ion‑X glass while the titanium watches (Apple offers titanium instead of stainless steel with the Series 10) have sapphire crystal. Sapphire very resistant to scratches. If you don't care about scratches (or you're not prone to accidental scuffs), then save yourself the $300 by going with aluminum.

I currently use an aluminum Series 6 that my wife handed down to me last year when she purchased an Ultra 2. My wife managed to get a few noticeable scratches/scuffs on the Series 6 in her 3 years with it. After 1 year with her Ultra 2 (which has sapphire crystal), her watch glass still looks pristine.

… or buy a $10 glass screen protector and avoid the $300 *and* scratches

Honestly I'm up in the air on continuing to give Apple money on these watches. Nothing since the 5 has interested me but I'm more or less forced to due to software patches.

Garmin highly interests me except the lack of responding to messages from the watch and my next appointment in the watch face kindof suck.

Body is fine, glass scratches and looks terrible.

Same price for silver version. Was thinking that the silver version won't show scratches as much?

I always had stainless steel watches until Series 10 which I bought in the jet black finish and I am so happy with it. It feels premium and no scratches since launch plus it is so much lighter. I added AppleCare+ which was still cheaper than buying the SS casing.

My first watch was aluminum. I have noticeable scratches on the body. I don't know if the stainless is more scratch resistant

Have they resolved the patent dispute yet, or is it basically no better than like a Series 6, or even a Series 5?
