Carnival cruise with players club = $800. Same cruise with Disney+ 50% off = $6,000. No deals here.

The only problem is that it's Carnival

Is this an actual deal or typical cruise line shell game?

Buy a plane ticket if all you care about is the destination.

it's not the destinations, unless it's their private islands. it's the disney experience onboard. the best fun are 'at sea' days with disney.

Have you taken your kids on both a Disney Cruise and a Carnival cruise?

I've done both.
They are completely different experiences. (Both have their merits, but both are completely different.)

The Mouse Tax is real. That said, Disney does an incredible job with their cruises. Access to the characters for photos and events is a reasonable wait, like 30 minutes or so for Mickey. Other characters are far less. This was on the Magic, the smallest ship. Food, service and amenities were great.

So yes, they're expensive. But it's worth it once if there's a Disney fan around.
