In 2016-17 we stayed in a basic/midrange resort with dining plan and single-park passes. $1,000/day for 4 people over 5 days (excluding transportation). It's quite a bit more now. I've taken my family to England and Italy for less than that, all in, with transportation (including plane tix; albeit for longer trips so the cost/day comes down).

Also, summer there can be horrid. And IMO, park hoppers are silly because you're just using up valuable park time sitting on a bus. I recommend one park/day, they're all so big it's not that hard.

I can't make a case for Disney except if you have younger kids who are "Super All In" on the characters. When my daughter was 3, that made perfect sense. She met all the princesses and it was fun but ironically she remembers none of that. Smilie

How do you use the dinning packages? Does it work for character dining?

All star mid July is 180 a night for a standard room but why let facts get in the way.
Double that for a family room, then add park passes... I've done my homework and don't plan to do it all again because rates have only gone in one direction. FWIW, we stayed in the Cars Hotel (Art of Animation).

The biggest problem with their booking system is the intentional obscurity of each addition. But the meal plan for free is pretty solid if you can conmit to using it all.

And why is that ? Who did the mouse offend this time ?
Poor experience, very expensive, crowded, and complicated. You cant get a Disney experience on a middle class budget anymore.

Yes, Disney's "magic" had an expiration date. Opinions vary as to when it was.

Usually, Disney will release special summer ticket pricing around May where you can get 3 or 4 day park tickets for $89 or $99 a day. Yes, they will not be park hoppers but most people do not need park hoppers.

The magic had its last breath with Covid. My experiences directly before and after Covid were so different that it actually makes me sad.

This could be perfect for some but a lot of times a discounted room rate can save you more than the dining plan is worth, also Disney often has ticket deals during summer months (of course that's not guaranteed.) This can be a great deal but do your research.
