Do these really catch fire? I expect all of these to die within a year or two now, but I just don't want to burn down our kitchen. Our Ninja just kicked the bucket after 2.5 years of occasional use and the best SharkNinja can offer is 50% off a new model despite advertising a 5 year warranty so I'm looking to hate-buy a different brand out of revenge

We have this model. After well over a year of daily use we had a fire because some fat dripped and hit the heating element. Hardly a brand/model problem and was resolved by a thorough cleaning. We are having some problems with the selector dial sticking but otherwise works well enough

Do these really catch fire? I expect all of these to die within a year or two now, but I just don't want to burn down our kitchen. Our Ninja just kicked the bucket after 2.5 years of occasional use and the best SharkNinja can offer is 50% off a new model despite advertising a 5 year warranty so I'm looking to hate-buy a different brand out of revenge

yes these do because the white tube thing is very flammable and most of the time causes fire.

I have a bigger one like this and it caught on fire. It was probably my fault for not cleaning it more often but it's a lot to clean you need to rotate it so you can clean the bulbs on top that collect grease from the foods you cook. For most people this will be a disposable kitchen appliance. I prefer cleaning mine rather than spending more money on another that will have the same problem.

I have this model. So far it works well. I did Bread (Toast mode), Bagels (Bagel Mode), Waffles (Reheat on Toast mode), Potato Fries (Reheat on Air Fryer mode), Cookies (Made on Cookies Mode) Roasted Vegetables (Roast mode). Easy to rinse trays after use with soap and warm water. I saw some reviews with the dial giving issues but still works, I haven't experienced that yet. Its Air Fryer mode is less strong than your traditional shaped Air Fryer, but family and I don't mind.

I'm on my second one of these. The problem I had with the first one is one others have had which is that the knob that is used to select functions stops working after a while. It will turn and turn and turn but won't cause any change to the settings like temperature and time.

I've noticed another problem where if I cook bacon in it using the air fryer function, bacon grease will leak out of the bottom on the right side of the device. The fan inside apparently circulates the bacon grease inside and it finds its way down through the bottom. I won't do bacon in this anymore for that reason even though it turned out excellent. I'm guessing that the bacon grease that made its way into parts it shouldn't have might have gotten into the electronics and caused it to stop functioning as I described in the previous paragraph.

But at this price I bought another and I cook most of my foods in it.

The dehydrator function is nice and I use it to turn tomatoes into "sun dried" tomatoes.

Assuming the wiring was done by a licensed electrician and up to code, it should be fine, the worst that can happen is you trip the breaker.
If the wiring was done by a "handyman", then all bets are off.

I've had the prior model of this and currently have the French door model. Never had a fire issue. The first one I threw out after about 18 months because I had two French doors that I bought from Walmart years ago at this price. I'm now about a year in and line the bottom slide out with foil that I replace. When the unit becomes too dirty to clean, I will break out the remaining one. While I prefer the French doors, I'd buy this if I needed a new one. Some say Gourmia loses heat through the doors but I've been happy. Only negative comment is the air fryer tends to take a bit longer than one would expect. I think though that is because most times for air fryers are listed for standalone machines, not those that do everything.
