God I hate intel CPU nomenclature

One would think that the n97 would be weaker than n100, bigger number usually means better CPU right?

But no! The n97 is better than the n100...why not call it n105? N110?

Anyway, good deal lol

Just so people know, I bought this one over black Friday and yes it still had the malware. But I did a clean wipe. All is good

Oh, if it asks you to do a windows setup without attempting to connect to WiFi and it had a chrome browser preinstalled.

What I did was I created a windows 11 install drive via windows 11 media creation tool then offline, I booted the USB and deleted the entire drive and did a clean install.

Quote from ScarletRiver8304 :
Your logic is heavily flawed. You don't give the benefit of the doubt to companies that have already betrayed their customers with malware. Everyone should presume there is a UEFI root kit based on their past behavior. They made no effort to recall the units and offered no guidance. You are also downplaying what Lenovo did to their customers with SuperFish. Why is it important for you to run cover for a foreign company that has already deceived its customers? Acemagic cannot be trusted and the ethical thing to do would be to warn others against risking their networks by buying these malware delivery platforms.
Not running cover, my point this was AOC ODM not ACE and there has been zero proof of EFI workarounds nor anything outside the batch that was reported on by trusted third parties.

So my recommendation was to wipe the SSD and start fresh and/or use LInux where these problems are mitigated even if it is not TAA compliant.

People can take whatever posture they wish I was providing risk mitigation steps and informing that what was proposed is not as big as a deal as to what has been said.

I was working for an ODM which in the trade rags (this was very serious) purported at the time that SuperMicro IPMI was compromised by the Chinese and it turned out to be 100% hogwash.

Most of the security breaches are from HI, not device-level "spying"/telemetry but nonetheless I an sure it happens and the pager incident is no small testament to supply chain disruption.

How do you use it ? I travel alot and want to use my Home IP to connect with my bank etc. Something that's extremely reliable and cheap on power ( Reliability comes above power efficiency). Are these over kill ?
