Refurbished on Amazon with 90 day return is $12.50.

And yesterday I ordered a refurb Pebble 2.1 for $26. It's the same as these plus a passive sub.

I have these speakers at home. They work well. No complaints.

Do these require the 3.5mm input for audio, or do they feed it over USB?

It looks like the wire is about 3-4 feet long, and my desktop is about a 6 foot distance to where I'd want to put them (PC on the ground, routing the wires behind the desk up to the monitor)
need 3.5mm. Speakers do not have a DAC built in, which would make it higher cost.

You can easily get a 3.5mm extension cable and plug it into a USB wall charger for placement flexibility. I have tons of both laying around in my junk box.

They don't sound great but they're $20. I use them while I'm working from home. They make extremely loud TEAMS alerts so I can wake up from napping if someone messages me.
i also nap when i'm working from home. but i also nap when i'm working at the office.

We have three Pebble versions. This one, and the ones with sub out and bluetooth and larger wattage. This OP version is the lowest-end version, but the sound is darn good. We love them for computer speakers. If you don't need a sub out or bluetooth, these are great computer speakers. Can't usually go wrong with anything from Creative Labs.

I have to put this here just because I would want to know if I was buying. We ordered these for my wife about 6 months ago and WHEN THEY WORK they are amazing. The corded was shorted out from the day we got them and you had to wiggle them and bend them all over to make it work.. so we returned them and got another set. 2nd set had the exact same problem straight from the box too.

I wish they didnt have that issue but we didnt want to mess with getting a 3rd set, so we ended up ordering something else. These did sound the best in this price range though!
Maybe it was the cord and/or the USB port.
I've been learning that some of my USB cables and ports are not built for hard use.
The USB tabs can bend easy and the USB ports can be a problem too.
I have desktop ports on top of my case and one is often sketchy electrically (I get alerts telling me that) and I have to relocate drives.
USB-C power can also sensitive to distance and that's why USB-C cables aren't that long.
The newer ports use the shorter cables and that's a concern I have with newer USB
Some ports (like on case in front) share power with other things plugged in.
In some YT reviews users say plugging speakers into a usb power bank makes sound stronger/better

These things are bulbous and have mediocre-at-best sound. If they're going to name their product "Pebble", you'd think they'd be less obtuse on your desk.

For their cost, their sound is really good. I've heard $100-200 speakers sound worse.

I recently bought the white ones for about the same price. They are good speakers for watching YouTube and podcasts. For music, they are just passable not much bass. But they were exactly what I was looking for to replace my old Klipsch Promedia 2.1 - smaller footprint, less wires and looks great for $20.

We tried them in 3 usb ports on her desktop and then moved it to my desk and it did the same on my pc too because at first I thought maybe it was just the USB port we tried or the audio input cord but after trying multiple computers and 2 sets of the speakers I think they just have a QC issue or something.

Seems like Pebble is a popular name for speakers.
I bought a pair of JBL Pebbles (1st Gen) about 10 years ago. Still going strong after daily use.
Funny - those JBLs are my work speakers (I'm looking at them now) and have always thought they were better than their size would indicate. 100% USB powered, volume control interfaces with the computer's OS, Aux In port. They were ahead of their time for sure.

These sound so much better than their price would imply, and seem to get pretty loud without distortion.

Do significantly more speakers sound better? Yes. Have these let me down, including casual music listening while pacing around the room? No.
