Speed-wise it's fine for it. There's mixed information on whether it's a TLC or QLC drive and whether it does or doesn't have a cache. The speeds suggest TLC since QLC is typically 5500MB/s peak or lower, but that's not to say it's impossible because technology is ever-advancing.

I'd say it's probably fine, but if it's QLC without a dram cache you could hit some pretty slow transfer rates on large file transfers (like moving a 100gig game to an external storage drive for safe-keeping etc).

these types of drives are more for lower power consumption and temps/heat like for a laptop or handheld. for a ps5, just pay a few bucks more and get a more mainstream drive.

From one of the Amazon reviews: "As a budget-conscious drive, this uses QLC and forgoes the DRAM cache in favor of HMB"

EDIT: Im returning mine tomorrow. Did some more testing. When this gets hot and half full is slows to a crawl. Under 200mbps. Next....

Just picked up this and it arrived a few days ago. I have it in a thunderbolt enclosure connected to my M4 Mac mini. I have 1TB loaded onto it and am getting 2400 write and 2600 read constant with black magic disk speed test. Im using it for video editing in FCP. For $200 It does what I need it to do. No dram at this price point. So if you want top performance get a drive with dram. And not the 990 pro. Lots of issues with that.

Nevermind, this information was for the O7000, not the E7400 that this deal is for.

While it probably won't be a big deal to most, I just want to point out that the post-pSLC write speed is horrible, dropping below 100MB/s. Filling the whole drive averages 167MB/s. Plenty of hard drives can outpace that.

novice here. it shows much higher rated max speeds, why are you getting just 2400/2600? i'm wondering because i have the same mac.
