The common thought at least on Reddit is that Valve won't be announcing the Steam Deck "2" until late 2025 or early 2026. That said, there will probably be SteamOS devices announced at CES this next week (at least that's what I think).
Worth noting that even if other steam OS devices do get announced, they'll be a lot more expensive especially at release. Other manufacturers have been hovering in the 700 to 900 dollar price class at release. They have to make more money on the hardware whereas Valve just wants you buying steam games.

The refurbished steam decks are also practically new, unlike the "equivalent" open box you'd see at best buy for example which can be very hit or miss.
I bought mine from the last sale and haven't set it up yet (it was delivered 30 minutes after I left for the airport and just got home). It's in flawless condition, includes a case and charger though. It literally looks like a new device. There are some apps that allow you to install epic games store, opengoal (jak and daxter native launcher) and other game libraries on it if you don't want only steam games

Just a heads up to anyone considering one who might be on Wi-Fi 6, you might have Wi-Fi connectivity issues if you have a Wi-Fi 6 router. I've never had any connectivity issues with my 64gb LCD and recently got the OLED and out of the box I couldn't set it up as it wouldn't identify and or connect to a Wi-Fi. Looked it up and read threads from others who shared similar issues with various solutions which may or may not resolve the issue. Eventually I got it to identify my mobile hotspot and set up, but it would only work intermittently after a full reset. I went through several troubleshooting steps on my own via threads I was reading then with steam support and in the end it's getting sent back for a replacement and hopefully is a one off issue. I'll update once I get my replacement.

I got a 512GB OLED refurb during the last sale and it's just an incredible deal for an awesome device. I honestly can't tell it's even used.

Just seconding this, I was impressed by the condition mine came in from the sale in December. Would not have guessed it was a refurb.

Ordered one of these when on sale for a family member, it came looking brand new, the only difference from the first OLED deck I have was that there was "refurbished" in an oval on the sleeve for the box.

I bought it thinking it would be a short honeymoon and then a return or left on the shelf but I have used this device far more (10x+ than the $2k desktop I built a month before getting the deck).

The only reason I would hold off is if you are deep in with a switch and waiting on 2 to come out. But I have seen that might not have an OLED screen, which will stop me from getting one until it does. (Some say they don't care, but I have been too spoiled by the deck and switch OLED screens to go without)

I also snagged a 512OLED from the last deal and it was practically brand new. Battery life is excellent also which was a concern.
If you pick one up grab a decent dock too. You can pair PS4/PS5 dualshock controllers effortlessly and there are already button maps for them, the OS even changes the images of the buttons for on screen prompts to match the controller. I've been playing mine mostly docked so I can use my 65" TV.

I got mine in the last OLED refurb sale. Not a single sign of use and battery health is perfect. The screen is gorgeous and the ergonomics of the device are unmatched.

Here's hoping for some reasonably priced desktop devices. I just can't be arsed to keep a windows pc around for just the sporadic gaming I desire to do that isn't console based. I've come close to buying a steam deck a few times but it offends my sensibilities to spend money on the screen I don't intend to use. (I know it's irrational, leave me alone, we all have our quirks)

Oh also, the deck only has one USB c port, and I am paranoid so I got magnetic adapters so I don't wear out the port, that way you aren't replugging constantly and if you play plugged in, you won't damage it if the cord or system gets pulled away suddenly

I'm still bummed out I bought the regular one and installed a new drive in it right before the OLED came out. Will wait until Deck 2 but has that sting whenever I turn it on lol
