Total storage in GB: 48 TB * 1024 GB/TB = 49,152 GB
Price per GB: $870 / 49,152 GB = $0.0177 per GB
This is the best deal I've seen on this 24 tb drive. It's cheaper than Seagate's 24tb.

I bought a new NAS and need to fill it some hard drives, so if you have a better deal for NAS hard drives please let me know. I was leaning towards WD Gold drives as they are usually the same price on WD's site. NOt sure which is the better choice for a home NAS running a plex server. Preferably something that is semi-quiet.

No idea, but my guess is it's above the magic $15/TB.
I would love to upgrade my NAS with 24TB drives but I would need 4 and oof that's a lot even with this deal.
I only really need 3 drives though. Contemplating getting 4 just to have a spare… but yikes.
I am not sure what a plex server is, but why are the WD Gold series drives the same price as the Red Pro if they are presumably better?

Prices from $8/TB to $14/TB, depending on HDD age, size and any special offers. Newer (used), larger HDDs are at the high end of the scale.
I was surprised to notice that WD Red Pros and Golds seem to retail for the same price on WD's site. Comparing them, they seem very similar. I think either would work fine in a home NAS. It appears that Golds might be slightly noisier than the Red Pros.
According to AI:
The key technology differences between WD Red Pro and WD Gold hard drives lie in their specific optimizations:
WD Red Pro:
- NASware 3.0: This proprietary technology is specifically designed for network-attached storage (NAS) environments. It enhances RAID performance, improves data integrity, and ensures better compatibility with multi-drive NAS systems.

WD Gold:Two other questions I have, even though SSD's are more expensive, since their failure rate us supposedly less than a HDD, should I get those instead for a 5 bay Synology NAS? Also can you have both HDD's and SSD's running together in the same NAS?
