1) Don't use a dinner/salad plate for soup
2) Use a drying rack

They are great for older or arthritic hands. Thanks op.

Corelle is the favorite dish brand for our family of 10. You can stack a ton of plates in a small space. They are also light but strong and rarely break.

If you have an Ikea near you they carry their brand of Corelle stuff for $1 per piece and you can get exactly what you want.

On sale right now for $0.79 a piece. Just bought 25 of each. Replacing our badly chipped stoneware dishes.

3) Don't put corelle plates on granite countertops without dish pads, they slide very easily and hit the floor. Ask me how I know... Frown

Probably not made in USA like these. Plus you have to go to Ikea

Once you go Correlle you don't go back. They're a timeless design.

I have the ikea ones and they are definitely of lower quality than these. You get what you paid for.

Had these and never liked them. They're too flat, making it really easy to slide food off the plate. They also stack very tightly together so if they're even a little wet still after washing, you'll be stacking wet dishes together that will stay wet for a bit.
All the reasons I like them. Flat plates stack well and fit better in the dishwasher.

My granite counters are flat so nothing slides off.

They aren't as good as Corelle; I got rid of mine when a few dishes chipped, and I had to sand down the sharp edges with a nail file.
Still, not a bad deal for the price, but there's a reason it's so cheap.

I bought a vitrelle glass bowl from Ikea not too long ago. It was made in France.

I have the 10.25" version of these and they are the perfect dinner plate for 90% of your meals and the absolute best when it comes to heating up leftovers in the microwave as they don't get as hot to touch as other plates do.

My one complaint on those are if you are having a big meal, other plates offer more size and comfort so I can only imagine the 8.5" plates being not ideal for dinner but better used for salads, apps, light breakfast, etc. But really why not just get the bigger size and still do those things plus have a solid dinner plate size.

Corelle Winter Frost White is incredibly boring, so it's perfect dinnerware for me.

I love simplicity. I have much more than a full set of this stuff, including many extra pieces.

I think I've broken only two of these in my life, and chipped a third.

These never go out of style.

But eventually the dinner plates get less glossy where the silverware is used on them, so they get replaced once a decade or so just because I like them to look new.

My only complaint is that they haven't cooperated with a dishwasher maker to make and market a dishwasher specifically designed for Corelle. I would buy that dishwasher in an instant, even if it wasn't a slick deal.

They used to be made in France for years, lately I've seen more of them made in China.

That said I LOVE the Ikea ones. I love their "soup" bowls, we used them for a ton of stuff. They are lightweight and have a nice texture on the bottom.

The Correlle brand are thicker, also heavier. Just depends.
