This literally is new..... Came out like 2 months ago.
Stop supporting them. Get a 9070 or rx7900. No difference on gaming
This thing is a beast. Worth buying for anyone doing a new AM5 build.

Cancelled from "sold by amazon" merchant? How soon after your order was cancelled?
Yes, shipped and sold by Amazon.
The first two orders I placed were cancelled within 6 hours after placing it. The 3rd time it took about 48 hours and then I got an email notifying me that it was cancelled.

I was watching a video comparing gaming performance between a 7800X3D and a 9800X3D, both paired with an RTX 4090, and the difference in FPS in games was very small if any. Wondering if this is even worth the price. Coming from a i5 13600k.
At low resolutions it's worth it for 1080p etc. At 4K it's not worth it.

I noticed the current $449 cheaper price is sold by some sketchy looking seller: GuangZhouFuBaoShangMaoYouXianGongSi (see attached screenshot). I assume anyone who orders from them will get that same cancellation.
Shipped and Sold by Amazon is currently $479.

Just get a asrock a620m for $69. You won't do oc on x3d, and mb has literally no effect on default. During my 20s years career building pc, I only opt for non-basic mb for specific reasons such as I need more pcie or I oc.
You mean this one:

https://www.newegg.com/asrock-a62...WH3KAP0927

Not going to work for this CPU buddy. Also, $69? What planet are you living on?

Should I get this or wait for 9950x3d for mini-ITX build?

It depends on your use case. If you do 80% gaming, just get this. If you do 80% productivity work outside of a browser, get the 9950.

If you don't know, get the 7800x3D

If you need a 16-core CPU get the 9950X3D. If not get the 9800X3D. Microcenter had it in stock for longer than usual last week which in the past would sell out in a day or less. This leads me to believe that either demand is cooling down or there's more supply.

I thought about doing a build with this CPU, but I was able to snag a 9700x CPU at the $229 price that lasted for about 30 minutes back in early December. Paired it with the Gigabyte b650m Aorus Elite AX board and G.Skill Flare cl30 ddr5 6000 RAM in the Lian Li Dan A3 case with a RTX 4070 Super.

At first I used TeamGroup Vulcan cl30 ddr5 6000 RAM, but I was having a weird issue where the PC would reboot automatically 20 seconds after coming out of sleep mode. The G.Skill Flare kit seems to have fixed that issue, although I haven't enabled EXPO for it yet to run at DDR5 6000 instead of DDR5 4800.

If you're gonna spend $480 on this beast CPU don't cheap out on the mobo. I'd go for an X870 off of Newegg, also the B850 boards are launching this week and look really good.
It really depends. Buying a more expensive motherboard can just mean paying for features you will never use. Many b650s can handle 9800x3d just fine, and PCIE5 won't be very relevant for gaming in who knows how long. A 4090 barely maxes out PCIE3 and PCIE4 has double the bandwidth.
