It's better to buy it from straight talk website directly since you could get better cashback (12% currently) from some cash back site. Also some chase card give 25% cashback for straight talk (capped at 15).

That can bring down the effective price to 204. (You still have to pay tax on 249 though)

Adding the link to the previous thread.
A bit more than the previous deal after taxes+fees but similar overall.
I purchased it last time and consensus was that you need to purchase the silver plan at minimum to get this price. Only need to buy one month of service. Wait another 30 days (60 days total) then the phone will be carrier unlocked.
It's not $50 higher than BF deal.
It's $40 higher than BF deal since this only needs $35 plan but the BF deal needs $45 plan.

I activated mine on 11/19/24 and it hasn't unlocked. I kept the SIM in until today and reset the network settings. Nothing. Not looking forward to dealing to Straight Talk CS.

I can confirm that the unlock works as mine unlocked today as per the thread - activated on 11/16 and only did one month and did not renew. Thanks !
Did you take out the ST SIM card? Mine hasn't unlocked from 11/19/24. I even reset the network after removing the SIM card.

it will unlock tomorrow (or later today if you're on the East Coast) - 60 days is the 18th.

Doh! I literally thought it was the 20th today. No idea why. Not intoxicated either.

And I had a typo too - should be the 18th not 19th, guess we're both having trouble keeping track 😁

Received my phone today. Purchase invoice shows phone and $35 bronze straighttalk card (no physical card included, as others state).

Unable to activate via Straighttalk (IMEI from "other carrier"), or Total (requires purchasing a plan).

Do I need to deal with a Total by Verizon CSR? Will they honor the $35 bronze card I purchased…?

I purchased mine without activation. I had a $20 tracfone 90 day card that they activated for me on chat. So it's working and hopefully will be unlocked at 60 days.

But as a backup phone, $80/year is the best deal available

I bought this from straight talk, activated the included sim with TracFone on the $15 plan. When I text unlock to 611611, I don't get an unlock date. I get "Welcome, our records indicate you are using your own device...". Does this mean it won't unlock in 60 days? Should I try to reactive it on ST $35 plan? Can I reuse the SIM, or esim? I don't want to wait 60 days to find out it's not unlocked. Thanks.

Did you activate as a branded Tracfone (instead of bringing your own phone)?
Sim is currently active on TF so phone can't be activated on different network until it unlocks (new sim or esim likely won't activate) - Usually when it says "you're using your own device" the phone won't unlock because BYOP requires an already unlocked phone. I'd call Unlock dept and ask if it got registered correctly.

No I didn't rebrand it. I did a chat with TF and theyre supposed to call me back in 3-5 days to unlock it. I tried to chat with strait talk but waited forever and got cut off before accomplishing anything. I'll keep trying to get one of the two to rebrand. Seems they're all under the same umbrella company anyway.

While they may be basically the same company the computer needs to have the correct registration information to unlock.
Don't hold your breath for a return call, that's just what you get told when they don't know what to do & want to get you off the line.
Only Unlock Dept can tell you if/when phone will unlock, don't bother with general support. Waiting for 60 days to find out phone doesn't unlock will just mean reactivating with a new plan and waiting another 60 days - better to find out now.

you should get straight talk plan, not tracfone.

Many people have activated ST phones with TF plans but usually the phone needs to either be activated out of the box as a TF or rebranded to TF to activate correctly in the system & qualify for unlock.
It's the same TFW sim and phone, I've activated several ST & TW phones on TF before.

Try text unlock to 611611 (to see, you should get an unlock date)

FYI - Walmart has it discounted @$199 + plan when you activate on Straight Talk in WM store again.
Requires Gold Unlimited plan which is $55 and deal is good till May.
