Don't use the bonnets (if it's the microfiber hairnet with elastic band style) with these polishers. You need to use pads designed for a DA (dual action) polisher, but they're not unique to the Chemical Guys model/brand. You just have to match the pad size to the backing plate size (5.5" or 6" or 3" are most common). Foam pads & microfiber pads are the most common types and come in varying levels of aggressiveness ('cut' vs 'polish' vs 'jeweling', etc.). You can check out Lake Country, Chemical Guys, Meguiar's, etc. for DA pads.
I got this deal before Christmas. Yes - the retail price is ridiculously inflated. But the only people downvoting this know nothing about tools. It's built like a tank and worth every penny if you know what it is and actually use these from time to time.

Actually saw this in store today on clearance… that retail price is so inflated because of the name brand! Retail should be $100ish

I know just enough about this stuff to be dangerous. This is what I bought about 2 1/2 years ago [amazon.com] and just finally started using it for light "buffing" recently.

I just pulled the trigger on the TORQ15DA (middle model) from OP's listing.

A few questions...

Can I use the 6 inch "bonnets" that I recently bought from Advance Auto on clearance? I got them for the Wen polisher I had, but... I'll use e'm on this new one if they'll fit/work? Or do I need to buy specific pads for the CG model(s)?

Thanks. Repped.

I assume something like this [amazon.com] would work? And if I wash them, I could get multiple uses out of each?

Per CG's website: "performance thanks to an extra-large 21mm throw, unmatched smoothness, and user-centric ergonomics."

https://www.chemicalguys.com/prod...hQ6J0lCy1v

It's a long throw which would work for most people.

These look to be dual-action polishers, so should be a little more docile than a rotary polisher.

Yup, get good pads then buff with microfibers.

These are pretty darn cheap, you can't get anything around this price range. CG must be moving to another generation from whatever place they can rebadge and upsell.

Doesn't sound like it is. Appreciate it. I couldn't find any statement claiming it was

I don't have personal experience with that brand, but quick searches tell me people generally like them as a budget/value pad and they are good for getting started. You can always upgrade later if you want something better/different. More pads is really helpful to be able to do a vehicle without having to pause & wait for the pads to cool down.
