The other complaint I have about this design is the carbon fiber lid, which doesn't seem to resist wear as well as the more traditional lids. Purely a cosmetic problem, but don't be surprised if a model you receive is functional but has more scuffs on the lid than you might expect for Grade A.

Two Latitude 5-series laptops that we bought had system board failures in 1 & 10 months after the 90-day warranty expired with FedEx Recycling ("Dell Refurbished")... est. $600 total loss. It was well documented on Reddit and Dell Communities by I.T. managers who purchased hundreds of these units.
Investigate any potential model purchase thoroughly on Reddit, Dell Support Communities, etc. Take the responses from I.T. managers very seriously as they support thousands of Latitudes over many years. Dell Business Leasing ships these in very large quantities to government and business employees for 2-3 year leases.

Dell Refurbished deals can be a solid value, particularly if you're looking to buy a business platform laptop, but they require research, active testing upon arrival, and sometimes even a bit of technical know-how and/or willingness to fight for a free return.
