I've bought a lot of air mattresses in the before times. $15 would get you a single layer queen, not a double layer one

In the good old days (3 yrs ago) you could get something like this for $15 without a pump.

That depends on how tall your tent is. Considering that most tents aren't very tall, getting a lower mattress may make it easier to move around in the tent.

Also, keep in mind that air mattresses are pretty cold to sleep on, because you compress the sleeping bag under you and transfer your body heat to the air in the mattress, which is "room temperature". Consider putting another layer on top of the mattress. It'll keep you warmer and more comfortable.

I've owned about 3-4 air mattresses in my life and all of them develop a leak in a short amount of time. Unless they're reinforced it just feels like throwing money away knowing they're temporary.

Is this something you'd buy when going camping with a tent and sleeping bag?

I plan on going camping for the first time by myself.

I feel, if you don't get one with a built in pump... there is no point.

All air mattresses develop leaks pretty quickly. Not worth it. Get a mat or a cot

I'm late to the game here, but FYI for anyone who comes across this. Return policies for air mattresses at stores like Walmart and Target are NOT shopper friendly. If the box has been opened, it's exchange ONLY for another air mattress of equal or higher value. They got tired of people using them once and returning them.

Yes has been Walmart policy for many years now already.
