Buy this.. I've reviewed it in the past but bang for the buck you can't beat this it's light enough to backpack with to get going and cheap enough where you don't have to baby it.

If you want to get lighter get lighter tent stakes, and optionally you can swap to aluminum poles if you choose ( even though mine have held up fine ) .
I've been watching this tent for a little while. It's gone from $23 to $21 and now down to $18. It's well reviewed and shipping is free with Walmart+.

4.5lbs is good for a cheap tent. But that's 6x2oz (some are 3oz) worth of stakes that can be cheaply replaced by 6x0.5oz aluminum stakes to save about 0.5lbs for ~$6. Replacing the fiberglass poles with aluminum will save ~1lb for another $20 or so.

A 3lb tent for <$40 is a good deal particularly with a 5ft x 7ft floor. With rain fly down close to the ground it should be dry also. I always spray my tents with waterproofing also:

Good luck!

Will tariffs hike up the price of this product in the near future or can I wait?

I can't image the price dropping more than another $2-3. Now's the perfect time to stock up on camping items if you have a place to store them!

I have this tent - $13 several years back - it's great for what it is since I had low expectations. 😎

Walmart has several Ozark Trail 2-3 person tents for ~$30. Sometimes they'll dip to $25.

I'll echo the other positive reviews. I have two of these, paid a bit less than this and they're great. I don't love the cutout in the fly over the door but it works ok. Replace the pegs with aluminum to save weight, something like the Wise Owl brand version will work fine on a budget.

Can someone who has this tent share how wide it is at the ends? I assume the 5' is in the wider middle. I need to know if it'll fit my double sleeping pad. Thanks!

Fiberglass poles make this too heavily for long backpacking hikes, no?

To the posters who actually own this: can you confirm the tent floor is really 5' wide? I know this is marketed as "oversize", but 60" floor width would be generous even for a 2-person backpacking tent. 32" is more typical for a solo tent.

I had this tent. I use it once. I found it pretty tiny. I am 6'4" I replaced it with this one. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-...5173151151
I realize it's more and heavier. My use case was car camping with the scouts.
Regarding the 5' width, no. Maybe if you stretched it really tight you could cover 5' at the midpoint but there is NO WAY you are using 5' of width. It's a 1 man tent. They mean it.
same tent for a dollar more with a slightly better door. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-.../355726519

I like updated version with the updated version for the closed fly. $21.67 https://www.walmart.com/ip/Ozark-.../523938871
