Gretsch guitars are gorgeous but i've been whelmed the last few times I tried one out. Obviously goes to say to try before you buy if you can at a local store.

I've never heard "whelmed" used without a prefix before.
I can't find what type of Broadtrons are in this but I think they might be the BT-2S which I had in another Streamliner and found dull and lifeless. The newer BT-3S seem to have better clarity and bite than the BT-2S to me based on the G2655T I bought from Adorama for $259.

These are blacktop (BT) broadtrons. They are different than the BT broadtrons which come with the Gretsch Streamliner 2xxxx series. These pickups sound more like PAF with a Gretsch snarl. They have some of that Gretsch Filtertron sound. Definitely worth upgrading the pickups to the BT filtertrons that come stock on the G5230 models or swapping out with TV Jones. Note that these BT Broadtron pickups are wider than regular filtertrons and you will need new pickup rings to install filtertrons.
I suspect they bought a lot of this model in different colors with known tuning defects.
I bought ONE in Cerulean Blue, and although gorgeous it would NOT stay in tune.
Sent it back to Adorama.
They sent me another of the same model and guess what?
Also would not stay in tune.
Had my luthier look at it and he said there were so many defects between the nut and Bigsby that it would not be worth the repair cost considering the price of the guitar.
Sent it back!
Adorama will NOT post my negative review on it although I've entered it twice.
This is a beautiful yet unfunctional "shiny penny" guitar.
