It depends on your usecase. The Ultra 2 has ~double the battery life vs the Series 10, can dive 50 m vs 6 meters on the S10, claims to be more tolerable in higher altitudes, has a flat screen vs the slight curved ones on the S9 and S10, a SOS alarm. It's clearly for people who do outdoor activities such as mountain hiking, scuba diving, etc. Whereas the S10 is better for regular, casual use and sports and snorkeling.
The S9, Ultra 2, and S10 have the same processor. Apple just rebranded the S9/Ultra 2's processor for the S10.
I've tried all three watches, and my daily watch is the S10. It's a very incremental improvement vs the S9, but the difference in weight and the new screen size/design makes enough of a difference for me.
I bashed my Ultra head-on against a NYC fire hydrant, full-force. At least half the watch was covered in red. I was sure the metal from the hydrant displaced the watch and almost looked around on the ground for where the watch went. Lo and behold, it all wiped off like a stain. The sapphire on the Ultras is mind-bogglingly strong. The case barely even had a scratch.
I had every generation from the 4th and was used to ruining the glass within weeks. Not this time. I've had it for years now and it still looks good as new. I'd love to upgrade to the 2 for the extra circuitry and precision finding but that doesn't strike me as a $500 feature.
Anyway, highly, highly recommended.
I have the Ultra. My wife has the series 10 stainless. We both have watch cellular service.
Apple Watch 10 with cellular. Aluminum $ 529. Mens size.
Apple Watch 10 stainless. All stainless include cellular. 729.
The stainless 10 and Ultra have a nearly indestructible crystal. The aluminum models crystal scratches easily.
How are they less than the price on this thread?

Unpopular opinion, rather go for the Apple Watch series 10 for the same price, better always on display and processor. The ultra looks very cool, but practically, the 10 is a value for money

But the S10 costs more unless you go for the aluminum version. I think the durability is what you get for the $ here. That said show me a S10 stainless at this price point and I'm intrigued.

Bought mine from eBay and it was good as new. These watches are tanks. It doesn't matter where you get them or what you do to them, they're as good as new.
If you were to buy this and not use the cellular… would you get annoying messages all the time? I had that happen with an iPad
I have an Ultra 2 without cellular enabled, (WiFi+BT paired with a work issued phone/plan, but work won't add a watch) no annoying messages here. I didn't realize until after the fact, you can't have a separate carrier on the paired phone vs. on the watch.

Ultra 2 has twice the battery life 10 has little bit bigger display

Yeah people are crazy. I had a SS s series and dropped it from 4 feet at most in the shower and screen shattered completely. I've accidentally done the same with the ultra and nothing.
