Also the Frank Bello is maple neck while this is roasted maple. The FB is top route while this is rear route. The FB is active pickup while this one is active preamp. The FB has no EQ and no tone control.

Excellent deal! The 5 string is $1099. I recently bought the black mint 5 string for $399 that was Reverb and I would say it's definitely worth double that.

I also had one off the five strings from Franklin and would overall concur except mine had ridiculously sharp fret ends and I didn't want to deal with that

Looked through the specs. This might be my dream bass, but...

Why don't they wire it for tone controls in passive?
And a pound lighter would be nice. Looks like these run 9 lbs

it isn't really much work to fix that.

Ordered. Made in Mexico. I've had pretty stellar experiences with MiM stuff. I generally collect guitars but been eyeballing these.

Just didn't want to bevel and it was pretty extreme

At least you can bypass controls when you run out of battery with poti pull.

A $20 file and 10 minutes could have solved it, but as long as you paid shipping back to them then it's totally fair. Mine came not perfect, but playable. I think it is just an issue that it is harder to finish the frets on a rounded fretboard edge the on a square edge.

I agree on the tone control. I'm eventually going to put the bass and treble on a stacked pot to make a space for a passive tone control.

You may however be a little unrealistic about a bass like this coming in at 8lbs. That may take losing the J pickup, or losing the hi-mass bridge, or losing the clover leaf tuners, or dropping down to a softer, easier denting body, and then it would likely neck dive.

I've got a Washburn Stu Hamm Signature SHB-85 4-string that comes in a little under 8lbs. It has an excellent flat-radius thin-neck like this bass, it hass super cool inlays on a rosewood board, but it doesn't sound nearly as good as this bass. It's my most comfortable bass, and it's the one I want to play the least.
