For those of you waiting on a better deal, be aware that the regular price has gone up from last year (49.99 last year vs 59.99 this year per my notes), so the same price may not happen this year. It might be a few dollars higher. I'm tired of waiting so I am getting it now.

Newegg has had a number of gift card deals in the past few months (example https://slickdeals.net/f/17897070-10-newegg-gift-card-email-delivery-5-via-newegg). I got two of them, totaling two $10 gift cards at $5 a piece. So I spent $10 on the gift cards, plus the $2.49 left over after the code, for a total of $12.49 net in my cost for the software.

I too, am waiting… The price will get lower as the month goes on and into February.

I have no idea how this made front page… This price is mediocre at best…

Once it gets to $15 and below then it may be a slick deal but right now it's just Meh.

Last year on Jan 5, I was able to get 'H&R Block 2023 Deluxe + State Win - Bundle - Windows/Mac' plus a $20 Uber gift card for $27.99. Hoping there is a similar offering this year.

I always use free tax USA. Any advantage to using this?

I prefer my data not be on someone's server subject to hacking.

I'm also gonna wait, but if you're in a situation where you need an early start or are expecting a massive refund, it can pay to go ahead and grab it.

The longer you wait, the cheaper it usually gets -- but also the higher chance of IRS backlogs, etc

That is slick! But it also helps that Newegg accepts multiple payments.

Uhm, how does "Free Tax USA" make money? Is this an internet based tax program? If it's no-cost, then they're making money somehow. You do realize how much critical personal and financial information is on your tax filings, right?

If you never did your own taxes before or don't feel comfortable doing taxes I would say TurboTax has more hand-holding than HR Block but you pay a premium for it.

I used TT for many years and it just got too expensive for a product that did the exact same thing as HR Block Deluxe at over twice the price so I switched with no regrets. The GUI on HR Block may not be as flashy as TT but who cares. Try HR Block you won't be disappointed.

Been on TurboTax for as long as I can remember. Anyone has any luck importing TurboTax tax returns into H&R Block? I have rental income/depreciation and capital gain loss to carry over. Not sure if it's worth the risk.

I used TT for one year (around 2015) and found two pretty fundamental math errors in a pretty basic tax situation. I don't doubt they've fixed it, but the errors I've found with HRB have been far less serious and related to more "obscure" situations (going back to 2005 or so)

The only reason I even find this stuff is that I have a pretty good Excel model to predict my taxes and I'm always honing it against the software. Finance geekery..:

Never purchased software before, is there any additional costs when filing via this? or is it all included?
