From a dad of 3.... If I could go back in time 12 years I wouldn't put money in Tesla stock or bet on the super bowl winners each year:

I would stop myself from buying this and save my future self years of grief and waking up in a cold sweat wondering "DID I MOVE THE ELF".

Can't put a price on priming our children for the surveillance state.

Give this to someone else's kids if you really don't like their parents.

Just have them watch the reindeer one. They tell the kids that they still move even though they stay in the same spot. My toddler was like OOOOH thats what happens

I screwed myself hard. The elves brought dollar store gifts nightly to my kids first year and now they expect them whole December. I moved and couldn't find my original elves so i bought 3 new ones. Well the old ones were found. This past Christmas I had to move 5 elves nightly and put out gifts every other night. Waiting for older kids at school to tell my kids Santa is not real so we can end this tradition

If it's such a bother, tell them yourself.

as annoying as people mention these things are, I know i'll have fond memories with my kids. I want to keep them believing as much/long as possible. Growing up with nothing ever happening around/on x-mas, I wanted to make sure my kids have something memorable. Everytime my daughters mention what happened last year's (and years past's) experiences, it really feels worth it.

If you stress over hiding the elf you are doing it wrong. The elf didn't move because the kids weren't doing enough around the house or too much screen time ....

Just don't do it. We cut it off a few years ago and every once in a while some other kid is like where's your elf? And we have to go into damage control.

Our elf did end up going to a mom who was staying with her daughter in a women's shelter. It clearly meant a lot as they had none of their Christmas belongings. Someday I'll tell my kids that.

This product does not work as it should. Mine had to be manually moved around the house. -5 Stars

My daughter loves her elf so much. She writes her notes, talks to her, is excited in the mornings to see where she's been or what she's been up to. One of the days I put the elf in the closet "reading" next to the stack of books, and my daughter laid out blankets and read next to her at the closet. I'll actually be sad when she stops believing, the "magic" that's there for that kid is priceless. The real world will be coming in soon enough, THATs the terrible part.

And, the jokes here are not lost, I agree on the hassle.. but the payoff for my kid has been 10000% worth it Smilie
