125% or 150% scale are just not good on OLED.. it looks too blurry.. This needed to be a 2.8k OLED screen.

This doesn't need to be anything other than what it is bc if you want a 2.8k oled, they make that too. $600 for these specs is fantastic.

I don't get the complaints. It's great Asus offers this for $600 or pay double for 2.8k, ultra 7 258, and 32gb ram.

Or just use 100%. It looks blurry because it's using shitty software scaling and low res UI elements. 100 percent means no scaling, everything looks like it's supposed to.

And don't say "100% is too small" right after suggesting an even higher resolution display that would make stuff even smaller

I've checked out both this and the Zenbook that was on sale for $700 with Meteor Lake. They are basically identical in build quality. The Zenbooks with "Ceraluminum" might have a more premium feel but those are more expensive.
the zenbook probably had the 120hz screen right? thats the only reason i cant get this laptop, i cant go back to 60

Been using this machine for a few weeks and I am impressed overall with the value at $600 this machine delivers. Very long battery life, excellent build quality at this price point, typing experience is pleasant, and I really enjoy having two USB-A ports. It's snappy as a web browsing/coding/trading machine. There isn't a better laptop in this thin and light market segment unless you are buying used.

Great device. My only complaint is it's very very hard to swap the SSD out. I put a larger SSD in and now I'm dual booting with Linux( use a rolling release).
Which distro? Does everything work on it? I would wipe Windows and only use Linux, most likely.

how many brightness levels does the keyboard backlight have? Currently have a lenovo with 2 levels that doesn't go dim enough for use in total darkness and will be the reason my next one isn't lenovo (has been an issue that they still haven't resolved after like 8 years)

This is the lowest price I've seen on a Lunar Lake CPU laptop.

The iGPU on this machine should play even modern games at low to medium settings, especially in FHD.

The pbattery life should be excellent. The SSD is on the small side, but 16GB of fast RAM and with 2 USB-C, 2 USB-A and 1HDMI the ports look reasonable.

If you're looking for a future proof laptop for most workloads, then this is a slick deal on a great machine.

Actually, the $700 Meteor Lake Zenbook 14 is 60 Hz display, but it has touchscreen and 1 TB storage vs this Vivobook with no touchscreen and 512 GB storage. For some people that matters, for others Lunar Lake takes precedence.

I'll advise on Thursday 01/16, just bought one Used Excellent shipped. I have a Best Buy near me for an easy return if needed.

If you go open box, I recommend same-day or next-day local store pickup (i.e. product is already in local store inventory) if possible. The reason is I've had Best Buy mess up and send me the wrong product. It was a laptop shipped from their central warehouse that was completely different manufacturer/model and also worth 20% less! I tried to return at the local store, and the returns employees argued I HAD to ship it back (and wait days/weeks for a refund, and get stuck in their bureaucracy probably)... until I showed them the return instructions in the app, and the specific instructions to return incorrect product delivery to a local store.

Also, it is Best Buy policy to NOT honor price adjustments if the price drops on an open box item! The only adjust price post-purchase for new items. For open box, you're SoL and they will make you eat the loss, or go through headache of returning and repurchasing.

All this is NOT to say open box isn't a great way to get deals... but be aware of the caveats.

How does this compare to a MacBook Air M2 at $799?
