Thank OP. This is less than the Veterans and/or Student discount which would be $116 for the Pro, and $71 for the USB-C version respectively.

In for one to experiment and return if'n I don't like it.

FWIW Best Buy try to move open box versions of this for a minimum of 93-95 bucks for those curious.

Is there a noticeable difference in this over the regular pencil?

Key features over the USB-C one: pressure sensitive, hover, haptic feedback, charges magnetically, barrel roll, pinch. Seems geared for artists mostly, but damnit I'm still probably going to try it out on my Mini.

FYI, this model is only compatible with M4 ipad pro, M2 ipad air and A17 pro ipad mini. So don't buy it if you don't have a compatible ipad.

I know Apple consistently takes full advantage of their fan base, but can someone suggest why the technology/manufacturing sophistication of this item makes it more than a $40-50 price point…on a good day?

I'll never forget when they unveiled the Apple Pencil, and the guy says, "And we called it… Apple Pencil" and he was expecting applause, but the room erupted in laugher and he stood there super awkwardly, having no idea what to do.

I agree, all these apple pencils should cost around 50 a piece rather than the outrageous 130. But apple fans just keep buying these, and apple just takes full advantage of this. Apple is so terrible to even sell a pencil with no pressure sensitiviy for 80. In digital art industry usually you can find cheap styluses pressure sensitive but not tilt sensitive, never heard something with tilt but no pressure. Absolutely horrible designer and who ever created this design is a genius. And also why keep making different pencils not compatible with different ipad models, why not just make them all compatible, all apple pencils even share the same pencil tip, it is just how greedy apple is, they want you to keep buying these 130 pencils when you update your ipad.

Well, you could compare it with the Logitech Crayon ($70). Compared with that, the Apple Pencil Pro has:
- Pressure sensitivity
- Tilt sensitivity for different amounts of shading
- About 2x battery life
- Magnetic charging
- Find My
- The squeeze gesture
- Barrel roll
- Haptic feedback
- Hover

If you're using it for art, especially if you're a 'pro', that sounds pretty compelling to me. Find My makes it a money saver compared to losing four or five around the house, or so I imagine.

Walmart also matched it at $99.99 for someone who has gift cards to redeem like myself.

And also if you lose the pencil you can find it through Find My App, which is great!

I bought mine new on FB marketplace for $70. Plenty of people around this time where they can no longer return them but realize too late they can't use it with their iPads.

I'd like to find something cheaper than the Apple Pencil for my daughter to use for drawing. Which stylus would you recommend as an alternative?

I have a MS surface laptop which wants a proprietary pressure-sensitive MS pen. Instead, I bought a Metapen. Works just like the real thing for 1/2 price. Metapen makes versions for Apple devices too.

I bought this one and enjoy it. Lacks pressure sensitivity but I've not found that to be problematic. It does support tilt. Works with my m4 pro 13 and a17 mini
