I wouldn't stay here. I've worked here for 6 years so I know. The property itself pales in comparison to other properties on Kaanapali(Sheraton, Westin, etc). The pools are subpar and the restaurant isn't very good and overpriced. The rooms were recently renovated so they could be nice but Royal Lahaina itself is far away from the kaanapali strip and the nearest mall, Whalers village. You're gonna have to either take a shuttle or walk 30 minutes to get there.

Go to the Royal Lahaina it's beautiful. I'm a flight attendant and this is once of my favorite layovers.

We've stayed there and it's the only place my family will ever consider going back to! There is NOTHING I can find that is as amazing as the ocean front cabanas! We don't care about the pool, it's steps from a picture perfect beach (which is why you go to Hawaii, no?). Would I ever stay in the tower, absolutely not. But, if you could recommend another hotel/property that has 'reasonably' priced ocean front rooms I'm all ears…

The price looks good BUT I've been to Maui before and unless you want to JUST be on the beach all day then prepare to do a fair amount of island hopping.

We stayed at the Sheraton in an Ocean view room. Would recommend that rather than an all inclusive resort.

if you want the luau and with the CB, the cheapest option is about $190 per night. Not sure what the resort and spa credit would be good for, but add in the breakfast for 2 and this seems like a great deal. if you want a better location closer to everything, maybe not the best choice but seems like a good location to relax if you have already been to Maui. we went last year, and are considering this on our next trip where we would go to Oahu first, and end here just relaxing.
How did you get to ~$190 per night? Even with Amex 12% I'm not getting that number, thanks

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on why we should not stay where you work for the past 6 years. Tell me your best reason why I might stay at this famous and old place? Also, how do your bosses treat you, as a valued worker? Mahalo nui loa~

1549 - 400 for luau, - cb = about 190 per night. Even better if you factor in bfast and credits, although not sure what those can be used on. Seems excellent if you don't need an elaborate resort, will use the luau, and just want cheap lodging to relax on beach.

From what I see it's about double the price, I would expect it to be nicer for that. Guess it depends on dates and availability, but what are seeing as far as price?
Double? No, you searched wrong. I just did a search and the first one I found was $350 and that's with ALL fees now included. I live in CA and now they have to show the final total price. We just passed a bill that they can't surprise you with hidden fees (i.e. cleaning fees) when you check out. It has to be the total price up front. Also, you aren't factoring in free and easy parking, no resort fees, no ridiculously expensive restaurants, no having to tip everywhere, etc. All those extra fees add up quickly.

I was shocked when I saw how expensive luau's are now. It's definitely not worth what they charge. Go to Costco, buy your favorite booze/mix, pulled pork, and some fruit and you can save $350. If you seen one luau, you've seen them all. I've been to several and they were all basically the same. I guess if you want to support the locals living there it's fine.

This is not an all-inclusive resort which supports your post even more. An all inclusive resort includes all the food/drink you want and this is most certainly not that.

Well, If this deal isn't, I know that resort does offer one. I looked at it prior to my last trip and decided against it.

Because "The pools are subpar and the restaurant isn't very good and overpriced." Which is like half the value of this thing. If they're gonna gouge their money back on food and the experience is subpar, where's the slick deal?

If you want to be somewhat isolated from the crowds, risk mediocre or overpriced food, and need to walk long distance/take a Lyft to get around, you might as well AirBNB it, and for that matter, just go to the big island and pay way less for more private space.

Did my honeymoon in Hawaii and I'd bet we didnt crack $1549 in lodging fees for 9 days (5 days Big Island, 3 days Kauai, 1 day in Honolulu). All of which had kitchen space, etc.

edit: I was wrong, $1555.94 total in 10 days. Admittedly, in 2019, so add 20% for inflation since.
20% inflation since 2019 is just the "Official" statistic and you know what they say about statistics  Real life price increase would be more likely closer to 100%
