The story is fantastic, the pacing of improvement is incredible.
It is a steampunk city builder where you are trying to keep your society alive while the temperature goes from 30 degrees to.... way colder than that, with crazy awesome. societal story beats along the way.
An example would be your generator has a big problem, but in order to fix it you have to send a kid in. You can decide not to, or send the kid.
You set laws, for example you can either do double rations, and have to deal with the challenges of feeding your people well, or you can go the opposite route and add sawdust to their meals.
It's so good. Maybe a 15 hour play, with replayability, expansions, and a sequel

These decisions were always the same and prompted at the same point in the narrative loop. As I remember, the first decision is always about sending the kids yearning for the mines.
This really killed the game for me because it effectively makes the game "solvable." Without a level of randomization it became just repetitive because I made the same decisions at the same time in the game, just got better at building the colony so the "bad" decisions were less harsh.
It really needs variety. Worth playing for a little bit but eventually you'll burn out on the same story being told.
