For those curious how this perform with other bluetooth OBDII readers, I found the below video to have quite helpful. The AD20 Pro starts at 8:00

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UvXvKbsbAww

My take away...the XTOOL AD20 and the RepairSolutions2 are the best for under $50.

(Note, RepairSolutions2 are sold under different badges so choose the cheapest: Innova 1000 at $100 off amazon / blktech scanner 430 $65ish off amazon / Zurch sold at Harbor Freight $60 / Hyper Tough HT500 $50 at Walmart).

These both check all modules and have a great app interface. Note, in the video above, he corrected in the comments that his top pick Topdon requires subscription, so it's not a top pick. BlueDriver is also great, but their app design is getting dated in how it appears as it hasn't been updated in a long time, so much so that it's recent update jokes how they're still alive. Repair Solutions 2 app looks the best imo with the graphs and interface and what I recently picked up (off eBay for $40), but AD200 by XTOOL is a great pick that does a better job in getting the latest OEM codes for recent vehicle in the past few years whereas Innova waits for OEM to release it which can delay having recent codes.

Also, the AD20 Pro is sold new for just $20.39 on eBay from XTool-Online [ebay.com] making it a no brainer and likely would have been my choice.

Could that be used to do my Honda's brakes?

Are you asking about changing the brake pads, or bleeding brake fluid with ABS?

If the later, then no, you'll need something that's bi-directional capable then these simple OBD readers that can only read and reset ABS-related codes. Look at the XTOOL AD30 for the best price imo in this category without future costs. (Note, the AD30D has more functions, and the AD30M has even more functions and the popular one). The Gearwrench GWSMARTBT (which is an XTOOL AD30M rebadge with some even extra functions) is also a good buy if equal or close to the M pricing. See the same eBay sellers for the AD30s.

$27.48 for this is ridiculous You can get a decent OBD2 can tool for about half that.

Are there any bidirectional tools that can access the Honda and Toyota specific PIDS that are reasonably priced?

soo almost all Bluetooth scanner including the elm327 are bidirectional. The software is what limits the tool. You can use a cheap elm327 and Jsan app and have a dealer level scantool/programer. But my advice is look at mucar bt200. Has free update on all makes and models, can see all the modules and only charges for service functions.

The A30M was the only budget scanner with free updates that could read our CLA 250. That said, on other cars, the bluetooth was so slow, it could not catch the codes due to long loading times, etc. More so a limitation of the bluetooth itself

This is true! Everything is held back for more expensive scanners through software and not a hardware limit.

When checking out the Mucar BT200 I don't see anything it does more than say the XTOOL AD30M which has 21 extra functions, and while it's certainly cheaper at just $30 off eBay making it a great deal for access to extra service functions, all 15 special bi-directional functions are behind a paywall after the first year. I guess it's worth it for those looking to fix something and then not need it for a few years down the road again to pay up if they even need those service functions again. After the first year, it's essentially this post's AD20 Pro ($20.xx [ebay.com]) which reads the full system components, but with the ability to do more if one pays later and looks like a better interface. Nice recommendation

Exactly. The linked video was useless as the stock app for any of them is going to be basic functions. He completely ignores important things like the ability to read MSCAN or SWI CAN.

It's the software side of xtool that's not great. Hit or miss on some makes and models. Mucar is based off of launch software. But also can be modded to with software like prodiag, xdiag, or diagzone. In no way am I promoting those softwares. I just find the bt200 is hard to beat for almost any user pro or diy. The Autel equivalent which is probably a little better charges per make, per year.
