It's a wonderful property and close to great Thai restaurants (Som tum der, baan kathani). Their rooftop bar is one of the best in town, and apparently top 10 anywhere.
plus i posted a few flights to BKK in the last few days
Greeted in the lobby with a welcoming cocktail and live piano jazz while we filled out some paperwork for room service and other amenities.
Once our room was ready (~20 minutes after arrival, which was pleasantly filled with above activities), we went to our room to freshen up and head to the rooftop bar, which is one of, if not the highest rooftop bar in Bangkok. Spectacular views and great cocktails at reasonable prices (at least compared to NYC).
Room minibar was reasonable. Room size had a king bed in room+bathroom, lounge/office front room with minibar. Plenty of space for 2 people, possibly 3 if necessary/allowed.
Breakfast accommodations were in a great dining hall with a tranquil garden area with koi pond. Food quality was good with nothing to complain about, but you may find better options in Bangkok as we did for lunch and dinner elsewhere in the city if you're a foodie.
Walking distance to some smaller shops, and cabs can be hailed at the front desk, which will help to guide you through the cost and expectations. You would be on your own to get back to the hotel.
Rooftop pool amenities are great, but the pool can be cold (high 60s Fahrenheit, I'd guess) which is shocking in the Bangkok heat. Pool snack and drink service available, as well as a spa and gym (we did not take advantage).
We were shuttled back to BKK Airport in a BMW once again for the next leg of our journey, and we had no complaints about our stay at Banyan Tree, but rather hope to return at some point when we can.
But there are similar or better hotels in Bangkok now for cheaper price
Also book early if you do decide to go. With that said
Previous posts are correct. Roof top bar and restaurant is worth a visit. Not the most price friendly, expect to spend 250-350 for steak wine and sides for 2 people.
You are getting 3 or 4 star experience at fraction of what you would pay here in USA.
