There ya go.. i paid $2800 during the great lrice mistake then another $1900 for a second battery off an ebay deal... $4700 total.. this deal is pretty much there.

I will say, at $4700 in I wish I had gone diy with an eg4 inverter and 2 server rack batteries for 10kw. Little more money at $5500 but fewer limitations and more reliability, capability and repairability.

12kWh isn't that much power. An average American household uses around 30 kilowatt-hours of electricity per day.

Could you share more about some of the limitations you have encountered? I'm thinking about switching from Anker F3800 mainly due to 240v pass through limitations when AC charging. DPU seemed to check all of the boxes but curious what I am missing.

Agreed but this is great for people that want plug and play.

I saw the home depot mistake, but I regret not buying it thinking it was too expensive. Frown

This one is refurbished though, yours is new.

I wonder about that.. seems like gray area. Refurb does not 100% mean used or already had the credit applied by someone else (I do not remember the wording in the law.. maybe "previously installed"??). It could have had a factory blemish, or been a demo unit, or a return without install and qualify. I heard in some cases they are new and because of agreements they cannot sell it below a certain price as new because of agreements with their 3rd party retailers. Seems like people would be good to submit it and if they get audited it seems reasonable to make the argument and let them decide.

I had charging limitations with a small generator. If you dont have one capable of running at max charge speed of 1800 watts for an extended period then your output is limited. My 2200 watt "continuous" generator cannot actually handle 1800 watts for a long period.. it sounds like it is destroying it.

Second issue being if something breaks.. you can buy a new EG4 box for $1400.. how much is a new DPU inverter?

Pricing on batteries.. DPU is charging $2000 for 6kw.. but server rack 48v batteries are $763 today on slickdeals from a good brand for 5Kw.

Smart home panel 2 is the only way to interface directly with the house but the EG4 can do it directly without the $2000 box that is filled with tons of relays that have a history of going bad on people.. and when it goes bad you get no power to those house circuits.. at least with an EG box you can just reroute the mains temporarily.

In the long run, server rack batteries will be available longer and for a longer period of time there will be swap out capable inverters.

This is not a gray area. The Residental Clean Energy Tax Credit very explicitly states new.

Open box (non sold) and manuf blemished refurbs are considered new still. So would labeling it refurbished to sell it below contractual prices. None of those are considered used unless it was sold to another customer first.

The EG4 you are talking about at $1400 is the 6000XP at 6000W 25A output vs the DPU at 7200W 30A output. 6000W is less watts for whole house backup with AC or even a 30A EV charger. You can get a DPU inverter on ebay (refurb) from Ecoflow directly for $1600 with a 2 year warranty or a new one for about $2K with coupons on sale. The EG4 12kPV does 8000W output but has 12KW solar input for $3500, where 2 DPU inverters gets you 11.2KW solar and 12,000W output for $3200 (refurb) or about $4k new with coupons on sale. A 50A hub to connect 2 DPUs cost me $170 from Home Depot on sale. On batteries, I will agree that the DPU batteries could be cheaper but I've seen them for $1700 (no sales tax from Wellbots for AZ and other states) for 6kwh on sale at Wellbots and for some reason the DPU batteries are much cheaper than the Delta Pro 3 batteries which are only 4kwh for $2300. And then let's talk about fan noise. The EG4 inverters are noisy as hell at full load, while 2 DPUs are whisper quiet. And I run my whole house with 2 DPUs (no SHP2 is needed) with a 50A hub and transfer switch. My system has 2 DPUs with 2 batteries each and 2x5600W solar, 50A hub and a transfer switch. My 5 ton AC uses a soft start. And I can also AC charge the batteries at night TOU rates (when solar is 0W) using 2x2000W switching power supplies with a transfer switch hooked on the 2x1600W lowPV inputs.
All in all, I would say that the DPU and DIY systems have their place for those that want safety and plug and play, and those that want the extra effort and extra parts (and danger, and fan noise) for DYI. And IMO, DPU batteries need to come down in price to about $1200 for the 6kwh considering the price nosedive that LFP batteries have had in China. And I think they will in 2025 if Ecoflow wants to remain competitive with rack DIY batteries.

I believe certified refurbished means used (like new but not new)

"Certified refurbished" is considered used but is meant to be in a condition that is essentially like new, as it has been thoroughly inspected, repaired, and tested by the manufacturer or a certified refurbisher to restore it to a near-new state; essentially, it's a pre-owned item that has undergone a rigorous refurbishment process to function like a new product.
Key points about certified refurbished:
Not brand new:
While it may look and function like a new product, a certified refurbished item has been previously owned and used by someone else.

Do these latch securely together? I would like this for a mobile vehicle (RV) setup. But I worry about the batteries and inverter not being secured together well.

But two 100AH 48v server rack batteries for a 10kW inverter would not be comparable kWh at all. This setup with its two batteries (which are 102.4v each, not just 48v) gives you 12kWh. This EcoFlow Ultra is based off 102.4v batteries, not just 48v like server rack batteries. Big difference.
