This game is probably the second best visual novel ever made behind the original Steins Gate. This game is a sequel and should be played after Steins Gate. It is a visual novel, which means almost no gameplay. You can make choices that determine the outcome of the story, which has several routes. Both games have great art, music, acting, and production values.

For me, steins;gate was the best thing I experienced across all forms of media in my entire life. Not saying others will have the same experience, but that was mine. And I'm not a big visual novel guy. I've maybe read 5 in my entire life

Very different experience in general for me. The art in the original becomes mesmerizing in a way that's hard to explain. Couple this with the branching storyline... Does a lot for the atmosphere and feel that is missed in the anime. The anime is great, but most feel like the visual novel is the superior experience

Elite is a hybrid of the anime and Visual Novel. All the Visuals are taken from the anime. I've never played elite, but I know the anime had to cut the story down to fit 24 episodes, so I'm assuming since it only uses footage from the show, this is the edited story of Steins:Gate
