First I have found of a significant discount on AirPods Max USB-C. So far it's just been the Lightning version.

Yes these are expensive, but this brings it more in line with it's main competitors like the Bose QuietComfort Ultra and Sony XM5, and by most accounts the AirPods sound significantly better than the others, although the others may beat them on ANC and depending on the person potentially comfort.

Be sure to read reviews on all if in the market and try them out first if able. Headphones are one of those things that can be down to the individual. If in the Apple Ecosystem though and looking for more sound and ANC than the earbud AirPods, worth a look.

Still overpriced. Should MSRP at $399 and go on sale for $299. No reason to buy these over the less expensive (and better in many ways) competition.

^better than the XM5 and Quietcomfort ultra?
Rtings rates both the Sony and Bose as better than the Apple headset for neutral sound. The primary thing the AirPods Max do better than the others is the transition to speech/transparency mode.

I am all in on Apple (Watch, MBP, Apple TVs, iPhone, etc.) and these were my favorite headphones of any I've tried, including XM5s and QC Ultras, and AirPods Pro 2, and others, but these are just way too expensive. They should be $300 max, even counting "Apple tax." They just aren't worth it even though they are great, even at this price. The lightning version (I know this is the USB C version) should be $200 at this point, new and even less refurbished.

Build Quality on the XM5 is trash, just read a bit about the hinges snapping on what seems to be a regular basis. Bose is Bose mid tier hardware regardless of what they make, I don't care what they price them at. All solid solutions but if you live in the iOS ecosystem, AirPods Max are easily the best choice.

I prefer the AirPod Max lightning over the USB c model. At least you can use it on the airplane while traveling as long as you buy the Apple Lightning to 3.5 mm headphone adapter. The USB C model cannot be used even if there is a USB C to 3.5 mm adapter. Only way to use is to buy one of those Airfly Bluetooth transmitters. Anyway, I own the AirPod Max lightning edition, Sonos Ace, Sony XM4, Bose QuietComfort 35. I have listened to the Bose Ultra and the Sony XM5 as well. My favorite among all of these headphones is still the AirPod Max and the Sonos Ace. The build quality is excellent for both and of course being in the Apple ecosystem makes it easy to use.

I agree, I went over the RTings ratings and a few other sites. While RTings does rate the others higher on neutral sound, most other sites rate the Max higher, and on headphones subreddits it's almost unanimous by commenters that even if they don't like the Max headphones for whatever reason (price, don't have apple devices, whatever), that the Max sounds better than the others.

I love RTings, I am a paid member, so not going to dismiss their review here. But it seems to most in real-world usage they prefer the Max.

To each their own, as I also said in my original post. It's good to try a few headphones and see what you like.

They are over priced which is apple tax for quality but definitely they above the competition. Also these give a unique experience with apple eco system like reading Siri apple intelligence for example what is ahppenin in the teams at work, did you receive any work emails..those are the things matter for some which is missing in competition ..definitely these are worth for those looking for sound plus apple intelligence

Hm... i wonder if this means Airpods Max 3 is coming out soon. I know the USB-C version just recently came out but it really was not an upgrade. Just changing the connector type. APM is due for an upgraded hardware to stay relevant.

The worst overprice piece of crap headphones ever made in mankind. The inventor should just go back and drop the mic because these suck so bad.
