For anyone interested in this deal, I highly recommend that you map the location compared to Waikiki beach, if that's where you plan to spend your time. Yes, minutes to Waikiki if you take their shuttle service but you won't want to be walking to/from the beach from this hotel. It isn't surrounded by much at least in terms of walkable activities, aside from Ala Moana mall. Still a nice looking hotel and Mara always has great food. Signed, a local.

This is a scam.

(1) 100% refund is a refund minus a service fee, which is not refundable. I've been on hold for an hour try on g to get the service fee back.

(2) The location is not in Waikiki. It's in Ala Moana, near the mall.

(3) The included breakfast, if you read the fine print, is a pastry and beverage

This definitely isn't the honeymoon spot. Since I live here I can't speak for the prices but even if more expensive, being right in the beach in Waikiki gives so many more options for food and things to do.

However, think about what your goal is. If you don't mind touristy areas then Waikiki is fine (and Oahu has more city life to explore) but if you'd like a nicer or more remote beach then the other islands will do you better (can't speak for the hotel but there was recently a post for a hotel on Maui- less activities but better for a relaxing honeymoon). I only know Japan from work but have friends going all the time because of the beauty and cheap but high quality food. Hope that helps!

After this year we will have been to Honolulu 4 times the last 5 years (my wife has her high school best friend there).

We will be staying again at the Vive Hotel (boutique hotel) for the 4th time. While the rooms are small (Queen about 220 SF) with no pool, they have modern rooms with a mini frig, are only 2 blocks from the beach in the heart of Waikiki, have a great free breakfast (meat item, eggs, fresh fruit, juice), provide a large common area that is open (with games, books, and microwave), offer free beach gear to borrow, and have reasonable parking rates (valet only).

If you book directly at the hotel website, they will waive the resort fee and offer 1/2 price parking for longer stays. If you don't drive, they offer a reasonable rate transfer service from the airport and there is a bus stop right outside the hotel. Many eating and shopping places only a short walk away (one of our favorites is Marugame Udon noodle right down the street).

If you stay here, there's a small hole in the wall place nearby called HiBlend that is freaking delicious.

Try it and thank me later.

I wouldn't recommend coming to Hawaii anymore. Crime is up immensely, tourists are given the middle finger these days by locals. Hawaii also never prosecutes any locals who mug, rob or assault tourists because after tourists leave, the soft on crime, prosecutors and courts don't have a witness or victim that will show up to court and testify at trial which is usually scheduled months after the crime occurred!

Good friend of mine got mugged and beaten at gunpoint in Waikiki at night, cops arrested the perpetrator but set him free after my friend left and was unable to attend court in Hawaii!

This hotel is a bit far from Waikiki and that area gets really sketchy there at night! Lots of vagrants, shady strip clubs and violent crime. You can look up the crime maps in Honolulu if you don't believe me. It's ok in the daytime though, just don't go walking around after sunset unless you want to end up a statistic on the 5'oclock news. LMAO

While the price is good, location of this hotel is not desirable if you want to have a Waikiki beach experience.
It's at least close to what is referred to "Skid Row" beach where all the bums live and shower at. LMAO

No, not really a couple streets away in relation to Waikīkī. However, this seems like a pretty good deal for those that want to NOT stay on Waikiki.
Exactly! More like a few miles away from Waikiki, approximately 2 mile walk each way.

Even cheaper to just bring or buy a tent at Walmart and camp for free at Ala Moana Beach with the hundreds of other tourists that sleep in the tents there. LMAO

For the authentic skid row experience, please proceed to downtown/chinatown Honolulu 🤣

Hawaii has a few islands, and they are different. Japan, lots of Japanese come to HI for honeymoon Smilie For JP, I've only gone for business, so I've only stayed in their cities, maybe their countryside/seaside town is nicer for honeymoon, but I don't know. (Not anti-Japan.)
For HI, the dates can make a big difference on cost and weather. Around Thanksgiving: cheap and good weather.
For Oahu: instead of this hotel, I recommend the Hilton Hawaiian Village hotel. It's one of the 2 hotels we always stay at (the other is Marriott, but I can no longer recommend it because of the enormous homeless problem on the east side of Waikiki). It's actually hard for me to recommend Oahu for honeymoon; check out the other islans.

For a honeymoon, I'd recommend the North Shore of Oahu. Turtle Bay is very expensive now that it is a Ritz. That used to be our go to. However, you can still find a great VRBO close by. Honestly though I'd recommend Kauai if going as a honeymoon. It's a much more lush and romantic island
