The biggest problem with Walmart's Scan and Go is the lack of a dedicated checkout for it, at least in the stores I've used it. If there are long checkout lines, you still have to wait in line to complete checkout. Given that, you really don't save any time since it takes the same amount of time to scan an item with your phone and bag it as it does to scan at the register then bag it. In fact, sometimes it takes longer to scan with your phone if you're switching between apps (like from a shopping list) or the camera takes a moment to focus.

I've used other similar types of process in other grocery stores where you grab a scanning gun on your way in, scan as you go, then go to a dedicated checkout lane with the scanning gun to wrap things up. Worked well because of the dedicated checkout lane. Without that, it's kind of worthless. I got this email as well, so the next time isn't worthless. It's worth exactly $5.
Interesting. I like Sam's Club Scan & Go. Scan items, pay on the app and head to the exit. Costco needs that.
Yeah, which is how it should be. But Walmart doesn't let you finalize payment in the app. You have to go to a checkout lane, tap Scan & Go, scan the QR code that pops up on the screen with your app, and then payment can go through. I'd imagine there's a significantly higher risk of theft at Walmart vs Sam's Club, so they want you to go somewhere where there's an employee who is supposed to be keeping an eye on things before walking out the door.

Also, even though this has been around for a while, a lot of employees don't know about it. I've been stopped several times at the door by confused employees who saw me not scan any of the items in my bag then start walking out.

All the stores that I have been to have at least 4 dedicated registers for Scan and Go or Spark drivers which are always empty. It's possible that they will add these in the future to your stores.

My store has a line dedicated to it….but anyone can use it regardless if they have a membership….there are signs that says it's for scan and go + spark, but everyone uses that line (though it does go faster) and they don't verify that you're a member in any way.

Had no idea what the spark reference was especially!
The + is probably on those self checkout signs, but all your eyes see is spark and it means nothing to the simpletons

Yep, I use that all the time at Sam's club, I was disappointed with Walnart's, it's similar to how Meijer did it too

I saw this ad for the promo in the App at my store. I think that's how you know it's a participating location? Offer worked for me, got my cash right after checking out.

Actually a pretty good experience for me!

I've actually found the value of Walmart+ to meet, or exceed in some ways, an Amazon Prime membership.
Free shipping on pretty much any shippable item, regardless of your total sale amount, basically earns you back $7, each time. I figure a $49 annual fee is paid off with 7 shipments; a $98 fee, in 14. That's not terribly difficult to do. And even though Amazon continues to add "value" to their Prime membership, the fact is, that I don't use most of it.

The scan and go app doesn't work on your device unless your a plus member.

Agreed Walmart scan and go sucks. Sam's Club scan and go it great.

Yesterday about 5pm, I used Walmart scan and go for purchase about $80, and this morning there's no new Walmart cash. I'm not sure whether there is normally a delay or if I did it wrong? WM did send me this offer in an email, and I clicked the offer. I did not see any special "click here to redeem" button.
