You don't want to hold onto these watches more than about 10 years. The tritium eventually drops by 50% and then degrades even more over time. Happened to me.

This happened to my Ball Engineer Hydrocarbon as well. I had better luck, got about 15 years before the gas in the tubes gave out.

With as much discussion as there always is about lume with watches you figured by this point they figured out a way to have something that doesn't degrade and can be electrostatically charged or whatever. Especially to counter the pure digital world a bit.

As long as you don't lick it you'll be okay.

In the range of banana consumption and granite countertop exposure, yes. Safer than a day at the beach.

While not impossible to replace the tubes it's far easier to replace the hands and dials on these... and expensive. Replacing the lume on watch hands is fairly easy and a bit harder on dials and much less costly.

Tritium is a beta emitter. Very, very weak. It can't even penetrate clothing let alone skin. Harmless in a watch.
