Why are you saying this? It's the opposite, they are selling overstocked motherboards and memory by bundling them with a highly sought after CPU
The 299 bundle is great place to start a new build. A 4060/7700 XT (or even a 4070) would be a great pairing for a pretty sick sub-1000 PC
What?? They are doing this because the 9800x3d is selling like hotcakes and they can get rid of crappy MOBOs and RAM kits by bundling it to customers who dont know what they're buying

That's exactly what happened last year with the 7800x3d msi bundles. Loads of returns because of memory instability. It got so bad, that motherboard got a new bios update specifically tuned for the hynix chips.
The claim I was speaking to is the idea of MC using this to 'dump faulty product'. That implies a knowing/willful effort to dump bad parts.

What you just described doesn't support that position. It's a common thing for motherboard manufacturers to issue BIOS updates, including updates to address memory compatibilities or stabilities. Dumping bad product, as I stated, isn't a sustainable strategy and dumping them with walk-in buyers is a recipe to watch your local sales evaporate. Cambridge does an incredibly brisk in-store business and has for MANY YEARS, which would suggest they are NOT "dumping faulty motherboards" in bundles. That's not how it works.

Usually w/these combos you can manually swap the mobo's/ram and keep the discount but pay the difference. The default mobo picks are usually pretty bad.
they actually quit doing that for some reason. I was so disappointed when I found out about it

Terrible "deal" especially if you're not gonna buy the RTX 5090. Also you could've had 92% of its performance 2 years ago with the 7800x3d lol.
well decide for ourselves whats terrible or not

Life exists out of gaming. People can come up with other options cheaper for their gaming needs with older components. Also, people are talking about old prices, or the price of used components.

When looking at 9800x3d's, 7800x3d's, 5090's, 5080's we are not looking at low or even mid tier needs. It's top tier, elite, and very specific keep that in mind.

All this maximizing cost per frame argument for both CPU and GPU is just nonsense. If you were going to maximize them you would be buying low end processors and cards. If you have the money to maximize performance you're not going to skimp and save a few bucks to avoid niche cases where it may make a difference. PCMag's Michael Justin Allen Sexton rated the 9800x3d 2 stars and got drug through the ringer for such arguments. The editors stepped in with a glossy correction but the damage was already done and the PCRag moniker was reaffirmed. The same stupid arguments are put forth by userbenchmark and they are not someone anyone needs to mimic.

A $50-100 premium is commonplace for top of the line. If you don't get that by now, that's on you.

Horrible motherboards and even the memories are awful. I would buy them separately and get the ones you want. I got the GIGABYTE X870 AORUS Elite WIFI7 ICE for $170 when it was on sale on Amazon. If you are patient, it'll come around.
Agreed. Poor bundle picks

9800x3d discouny deals should be coming soon since the 9950x3d will be launching soon and will be the new toy for everyone to upgrade. Whoever needed the 9800x3d already fomo into it. I have 5 microcenter in 20 miles radium and all of them still show 25+ 9800x3d in stock since 5 days ago. Before it would be gone withing half a day.

I wait so long for new cpu's and gpu's to go on sale that I have missed multiple generations lol! I hate the rat-race to keep up with all this stuff but will probably bite on one of these deals after some research. AMD just seems better these days and more power efficient.

I talked myself out of moving up to the 9800X3D around BF but the more modeling and CAD work I do, the more I want to make the jump from my i7-10700. Might be fun to start the build and see if I can pick up a 50 series in a couple of weeks.

Be careful, people don't like it when you think outside the box lol. Still 25+ over here too and there's only 1 in my entire state LOL. Any takers if it'll last through the whole week?
