Had the 2023 version and was my daily driver. it worked fine with pretty much all apps, and front camera for selfies was awesome.
It was actually Google's own apps that were wonky sometimes. YouTube and maps used to have a hard time with screen orientation for some reason and would need closing and reopening occasionally.

It was surprisingly tough too. It survived a fall off of a moving car at 35mph(ish) when i forgot I placed it on my hood and started driving.

It bit the dust finally after my kid dropped it in a puddle of water and started having LED stripes on the screen.
You're right - apologies. The 2023 and 2024 models are both on the same product page and didn't realize it when making the comment earlier.
What are you talking about? It's brand new for $499.

I really wanted to get since I dont like the huge 6.7" phones these days. And they really improved it to the 2023 model, only downside was the camera on the reg razor with some strange colors, dont know if they improved it on razr+ with snapdragon. But I had a $99 deal on boost, $499 is different

Customary update policy post Wink. Is this not an expensive paper weight given Motorola's poor update policy and implementation? They promise 3y major version /4y bi monthly security updates but I hear it's implemented haphazardly with poor QC. I can use this as a secondary phone maybe, but how's this for a daily driver if you use a lot of banking / investing apps?
Had Samsung for 4 years, switched to moto last year. Security updates are rolled out every month and android 15 is currently being rolled out to razr phones, before Samsung. Updates aren't an issue camera is, it's inferior to Samsung/google/Apple cameras.

People referring to phones as "daily driver" is so odd for me... Do people nowadays really have a daily phone for making calls and texts and scrolling, then a weekend phone for making calls and texts and scrolling? What am I missing here

Some might buy a phone as a backup

I have a cheaper phone as a separate work phone. If I want to work from home I need to be available but I want it to be a separate phone number and that way all of my work calls, texts, and emails only go to that phone.

A possibility to consider:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/motoro...43596.html

"Motorola phones could be banned in the US"

"The ITC will issue a final ruling in April 2025, and if its initial decision is upheld, a ban on Motorola phones in the U.S. is likely to happen."

Since the screen protector will need replacement, perhaps handier people could buy a couple of the iFixit kits that Motorola sells, sometime before April, if there's no settlement before that.
This happens all the time in the tech industry and it's nothing to worry about. Even Apple has had threats like these against them, most notably with Qualcomm. These companies always come to a resolution.

How did you get BB to price match? I just tried it via chat and they refused because the Amazon model has 1 number in the model number that's different than the one on Best Buy...same color/storage and everything.

Just try with different reps. i was able to do price match 3 times. Placed one order for 499+ tax , but then I realize that I have trade my old device. So i got another price match later and added my trade-in. Just tell the rep that its same device , check specification . I know its 1 number different 3US vs 2US , it seems but they still did. Just keep trying

I've been using Motorola smart phone's for over 15 years now and I can say that Motorola has gotten better and more reliable with updates in the past 3-4 years. They certainly still aren't perfect but my 2023 Edge Plus has been consistent with bi-monthly security updates and Android 14 was delivered in January 2024 which was only 4 months after Android 14 was released. I know you're probably saying that's 4 months late but this was a HUGE accomplishment for Motorola. They seem to be getting much better every year so here's hoping that trend continues.

I have the regular one and not the plus. It has replaced my iPhone 15 pro max. My pro max is just used for videos and pictures and to connect to my Apple Watch Ultra. I leave the house with the razr and my Apple Watch.
