Meh. The V series is/was decent for the new Craftsman but they seem to be on their way out, discontinued.

Tools are made in Taiwan or France depending on the tool.

I find it better to look for made in the USA used stuff on Craigslist or FB marketplace.

I just picked up a nice KD set 1/4" 8-14mm sockets. In the blow molded case. Got it and a bunch of loose sockets in a Williams box. All USA made various for 20 bucks.

14 years ago it used to be $10 on sale at Sears that's when and where I purchased mine. Regular price was $20 and 50% off during Thanksgiving black Friday. Now after 14 years the sale price is 50% more. Inflation is not just 7% as Feds would say.

And mine is Made in the USA.

Any opinions of craftsman vs Kobalt? I know Crafstman is pretty junky and not what it used to be.

edit: reading around it seems like Kobalt is slightly better. I'll get the Kobalt 55 piece for $10 more.

Breaking news, sky is blue! Big Grin Yes, inflation since the pandemic has been higher than usual but why are you surprised that a company is cutting corners on quality all in the name of profit?

If random January sale prices of tools were indicative of inflation and if inflation was 7%, that $10 tool set would be $25 today. Lucky for us, neither of those are true. But we do really need better economic education in this country.
