Can anyone who understands how this works explain, can I plug this system into my modems phone plug and not have to pay any additional fee?
You need internet and monthly cost is about 7$ per month for unlimited domestic calls.

depending on your area there is a small regulatory fee usually $3-5/mo.
Ooma estimator says over 8 bucks in taxes/fees! I might as well get a talk/text cell phone plan so I can at least get texts.

It's basically a wireless extension that you plug into an outlet and then pair with your base station. Similar theory to a wifi extender. Have used it plugged into extension cords/surge protectors and it works though they tell you to plug it directly into the wall. Very easy to set up.

Have used them for years and highly recommend them.

Bummer.... Im running 3 for over 10 years and they're still going strong....but probably not much longer. You can still use the device with other providers for a small fee.

Porting out of ooma as we speak. It's had a good run but everyone in the household has mobiles and all we get on the ooma are spam calls. I'm porting the number over to Google voice. The box is going up on marketplace or the trash.
