Yep... people don't seem to realise those additional components needed add up fast.

A lot of people here seem to think that all-in-one units (like Bluetti, Ecoflow, Pecron, etc.) should be just barely over the bare-minimum price of the battery size they have inside them. Nevermind all those extra components like the solar charge controller(s), AC charger w/ UPS switchover, USB, DC out, etc.

Economies of scale. 100Ah is a much more common size battery, and they make many more of them. ..nevermind the fact that simply swapping 2 LFPs into a UPS isn't necessarily a great idea since the charge controllers aren't designed for LFPs..

These aren't suitable for use as a car battery, fwiw. Not great with high temps, can't be charged below freezing, and can't necessarily supply the large spike in amps a starter draws.

No need to wonder. Go to YouTube, plenty of reputable people doing capacity checks and teardown videos. These batteries are coming down in price because the technology is becoming more popular. I am also going to go out on a limb here and say they produce way more 100ah batteries than they do 10ah batteries.

It's so weird to me that the massive 100ah batteries from them are getting so cheap

Meanwhile the UPS RBC2 sized 2-pack is still so expensive, almost half the price

https://www.ebay.com/itm/126557369610

should be one third if not one fourth the price

makes you wonder about the real 100ah capacity

I agree. I see some talk that having a dedicated UPS will allow you to gracefully shut everything down. With these 100ah batteries so cheap, you can just run them for an entire day and not shutdown at all.

The only problem is that getting an inverter with a <10ms transfer time to pair with the batteries is still astronomically expensive.

I just bought a 1kwh EcoFlow power bank with a <10ms transfer time for $550. I actually thought of building my own with batteries like this first, but gave up after pricing out high performance inverters.

DIY is a good idea for large scale projects like a whole house backup system or maybe a van/RV but there's no economical way to make your own UPS yet.

The nice thing about most all-in-one units is that once you have one, you can buy inexpensive batteries like this and wire them into the solar input to expand their capacity. That's usually much cheaper vs buying their proprietary expansion batteries (albeit less tidy/convenient - you'd also have to find a way to charge the extra batteries, like using ecoflow's alternator charger for reverse charging).
