Not sure, but I've had my Omni set for years and couldn't be happier. There are a few scratches here and there, but they function as well as the day I bought them and the finish has held up well (through being checked at least 50 times).

Polypropylene fwiw.

For the luggage aficionados, that's the "midrange" plastic so you can feel smugly superior to the ABS people while also looking down on those spendthrift polycarbonate one-percenters. Smilie

lol... so right! laugh out loud

VPC > PC > ABS > PP i.e. polypropylene is at the bottom of this foodchain.

Aaah, so there's a catch after all!

That said, what is VPC?

For what it's worth, COSTCO will have the 2 piece Samsonite Element XLT 2.0 set in the link below for $149 (after $50 instant rebate) during the next sale starting January 29. I believe the COSTCO Samsonite one is POLYCARBONATE rather the one in this thread.

That stands for "virgin polycarbonate". You would prefer this over all other plastic luggage materials.
I bought two VPC-made 4-wheeled spinner suitcases (different brands) 10 years ago. Both endured years of intensive use and abuse of luggage handlers at airports all over the world. Not a crack in any, except a few superficial scratches and one small corner ding.

PP has been touted as significantly better then ABS. You're saying no? Why?

It seems like a whole bunch of Samsonite luggage is on sale at the ebay site sold directly by Samsonite.
Note the full price, before the 20% is shown in large, and strangely, the price after the 20% discount with a code is shown in smaller font (in green)

PP is lighter and more flexible. ABS is tougher, less scratchable, but more brittle and heavier. So it depends on what you are looking for...

If your goal is to put a lot of lighter stuff into a large volume, go for PP. If you want to pack less, but heavier, get a smaller hybrid PC/ABS suitcase. That would be cheaper than going full-throttled PC.

And, is polycarbonate the heaviest?
