Rather own some martha stewart brand chef knife block, even Amazon Basics has a decent set. Both are cheaper. Both have better handles than this one.

Martha Stewart and Amazon both made in China. That's a no go for for me when it comes to anything in the kitchen that has to do with food prep, cooking, or storage.

I looked but couldn't find coo, so they're using "German steel" loosely. I find it hard to believe they're shipping raw steel or finished blades to China for refining or assembly. Good catch I was almost going to grab a set thanks for looking out!
