A bank of clouds was assembling on the not-so-distant horizon, but journalist-mountaineer Jon Krakauer, standing on the summit of Mt. Everest, saw nothing that "suggested that a murderous storm was bearing down." He was wrong.

I agree, great book.
This book is the only one I ever read completely in one "sitting", i.e. w/o putting it down partway thru and continue reading at another time
Great book... for anyone that is interested in this story, there are many versions of the same events and very interesting points of view (different but equally immersive). I recommend also reading: The Climb by Anatoli Boukreev, I also plan to read Beck Wither's accounts "Left for Dead" in addition to "A Day to Die for"... many accounts, many versions. Personally, I loved Into Thin Air but reading Anatoli's accounts, made both books more interesting. Those two books highlight real life conundrum in how different people remember things differently and have different motivations (or perhaps, ulterior motives).
