It's good if you're planning to use their service for 6 months. Otherwise, it's annoying to be locked for so long. If you are planning to use the plan, make sure to use a referral code to get an additional $25 credit. You can also share your referral code and get up to $25 credit for up to 10 uses per year.

So, I can purchase for $50, pay first month for $60, then pay the next 5 months at $30/mo ($150). So $260 total for 6 months of service? Or just $170 total for 3 months after lowering the $60 first month to $30/months? Do I have this right? Sounds like a good deal. Downside?

For current Cricket user it would be good deal. I have 4 lines for 100 plan, grab this deal for $49 + $60 (one month only). No need to pay $60x3mo. And once got the device, can immediately downgrade to my current plan setting and save an extra $35.

You have to pay $50 for the phone and prepay 3 months of $60/mo. plan so it's $50+$180. When you activate the phone, you immediately contact customer service to get them to downgrade your plan to $30/mo. plan. You will see $150 credit (instead of the $120) in your account.
Downside? You're stuck with Cricket Wireless for 6 months.
